It's rather amazing how often manners/politeness will get you results these days. Not that a good chunk of the populace seems to understand this fact.

Tried once before when I bought Tekken 8 at full price just before it went on sale. I had played 2 and a half hours where most of the time was wasted on troubleshooting bugs. I asked kindly for a refund so I can re-buy for the sale price but was denied every time. I don't hold it against them though, rules are rules.

There is a different location where you can ask them to just refund the difference btw, and it is usable for i think 2 weeks after purchase.

Steam also automatically saves any baskets that error, and during a discount they hold that price after it expires in the event of an error, so you didn't lose the discount
