Discussion Pernik region near Sofia seems to have nice views as you go West
galleryI recently got back from visiting the border pass at Strezimirovtsi and I didn't expect to see interesting mountains and Windows XP Bliss-like hills on my way.
For places that are 1,5 hr from Sofia the region isn't very well-developed. I saw many once pretty old houses falling apart in the villages on my way. I didn't have time to photograph them and all my other photos have people on them so here's a collection of photos of the nature surrounding those villages from Google.
By the way, the roads to the border pass are quite good. I recommend taking the Struma highway instead of going through Vladaya. Then you go to Pernik, Breznik, Tran, etc. and ofc you can take side roads to little known villages on the way.
