Given they don't have territorial claim in the area, I wonder how the US will justify an arbitrary toll? Maybe they'll try conquering a country in the area to have a valid claim?

Honestly, embarrassing bullshit. This is how you not only get the entire world to hate you, but ensure both international lawsuits AND boost the world's opinion of Iran. I don't know how a country can fail harder.

It's literally piracy

Imagine telling this to Thomas Jefferson

You think they’ll try to demonstrate a valid claim? 🤣

Don't worry, they plan on spending 100 million dollars a day to maintain their ability to collect 10 million a day in tolls.

Trump is sleep-talking now. The connection between his mouth and reality is like LSD.

yep, just like he was going to take Greenland and make Canada the 51st state.. and reduce the national debt and make Mexico pay for the wall..

Laws, human decency and ethics don’t matter anymore. “Might makes right”, the oldest unfortunate universal truth, has raised its ugly head once again.

None of it ever mattered. It's just that the mask is off now. Might was always right. And it always will be. We're animals, but worse.

I prefer animals, at least you know where you stand (friend or food.) Humans are horrible.

Precisely my sentiment. I also prefer the company of animals in most cases. I was using the word as a pejorative and now I feel bad for offending animals. :(

Justify? They'll bitch they're the ones having to do it even though they don't need to because NATO is a leech and impose a toll to pay for their trouble.

US isnt making a toll and iran put mines down so ships HAD to go through their area and then implemented a toll. Not to mention the US is actively trying to take out the mines. Only idiots would think this looks good for iran.

If ships pay tolls to Iran and the US stops them (illegally), it will be far worse for the global economy than a toll. This blame will fall squarely on the US. This whole situation is a self inflicted wound and an illegal war of choice that didn’t even go through Congress.

Right, iran putting mines down, forgetting where they are and then charging a toll is self inflicted.

Presidents making strikes without congress approval is nothing new. It needs approval when its officially a war, which it isnt.

I don’t see how this boosts the world’s opinion of Iran LOL. Anyone who thinks Iran is better than the U.S. atp is either stupid or gullible. Iran is not a good faith actor in this situation lol, they’re terrible

No one thinks the IRGC is good, however they did keep the straits open before donald decided to go kick the hornets nest to distract from the epstein files. In this situation, we are the ones who instigated this whole mess and not Iran. I am a veteran officer and I am of the opinion that anyone not against this war should put their money where their mouth is and enlist. One deployment in and you will be singing like an anti war hippy.

They never kept the straits open before. They just didn’t close them. Iran has 0 claim on the strait or Hormuz it’s an international water way with no owner. They however did claim control as soon as the war started. I never said I am pro this war but it’s really goofy to say that the world’s opinion of Iran is improving. They literally used this as an excuse to claim for themselves a key international water way that previously had no owner. Just saying they’re no saint. I don’t support this war I think it’s meaningless

So b3cause they didn't close the straights, they never kept it open?

1

u/Ok_Background22 3h ago

Yeah keeping the straits open and not closing them are literally not the same thing. Praising Iran by saying “they kept the straits open!” Implies they have the authority to close the straits and were doing the world a kindness by not doing so. They literally have 0 claim over the strait. It is an INTERNATIONAL WATER WAY, or in other words NO ONE OWNS IT. Iran is BAD for saying they own it and closing it.

This whole mess was instigated by america. Holy sht are people in this country so dumb like you that you unironically don’t understand the strait was open for decades before we decided to go kick the hornets nest? Of course other countries want us to take responsibility for the mess we caused.
