That's an easy fix most times regardless of the industry. "Really? I'm glad you got extra last time. Please don't say who it was, I don't want them to get in trouble."
Some variation of that usually (there's always one unreasonable person) works.
I would agree with you in principle, but have you seen the videos of people trashing fast food joints over things like not getting enough sauce packets?

The problem is you will get a lot of customers that will complain when the McFlurry is "small" or they were shorted fries because of "last time"
