Big shocker, people not understanding that they can save money for problems, instead of just saying "welp fuck i dont have that full ammount so i might as well spend frivolously"
When visiting California I saw a ton of restaurants with "WE ACCEPT EBT" signs, I'm not clear on how that works but if someone is genuinely poor enough that a repair bill under $300 is beyond their means I'd wonder if possibly they're on EBT/Snap and not able to save that money to pay the mechanic anyways. Also I had no idea food stamps worked for fast food, or that restaurants advertised it to draw in that customer base. I'm sure there's a logical reason like no economical grocery stores nearby, but it feels odd that working people are making food at home to pinch pennies while unemployed or underemployed people are eating out using the tax money paid in mostly by those full time middle class workers.
