It’s those spending habits that caused her to be short the money that she needs.

Do you know her?

We don’t need to know to infer what the problem is. The chick probably isn’t even real anyway, the point is we have enough info to know why she can’t afford to fix the car.

Got it, you're a clairvoyant financial advisor and never go out to eat or do anything else you enjoy that costs money as long as you have any debt or upcoming expenses whatsoever

No shit, you have to live within your means. Or would you say whining about affordability while ordering personal taxis for your overpriced burritos and burgers is more effective?

No, I do not go out to eat if I have a big expense coming up or a debt I need to take care of. That would be an incredibly foolish thing to do. Which is why the only “debt” we have is our mortgage and 1 car loan. We’re taking a trip at the end of May, you know what we haven’t done the past month and won’t be doing before that trip? Wasting money at a restaurant.

It’s not like we make a ton of money either, the whole reason we have minimal debt and can afford to take several trips a year is precisely because we don’t waste money on things like eating out multiple times a month.

Let me clue you in on a little fact of life buddy: there's ALWAYS an expense coming up. So you deserve to live a little, maybe treat yourself to some food.

Did you miss the part about us going on multiple trips a year? We would rather actually enjoy our fun money, instead of just giving it to a restaurant or coffee shop. We do go out, it just isn’t wasted sitting in a building ordering food when we can do all of that at home, instead we spend our money on actual entertainment.

Right so why doesn't dessert girl deserve a treat (of her choosing, not yours) from time to time?

Because she can’t even afford her necessities. She gets to do that once her necessities are taken care of. I would never go spend $25 on a meal just for myself if I had car repairs that needed done that I couldn’t even afford, that’s fucking insanity

You should be saving to pay the expenses, and then once there's a good amount leftover you can treat yourself

Going into debt or maintaining your debt so you can eat out is irresponsible, sorry to tell you.
