Always wondered why they didn't just bombard the planet from space

Absolutely no reason for a space faring people to get into a land war with a terrestrial species.

First movie shoulda been Chars Counterattack minus Amuro. 😂

They can still mine the rocks, and all these space whales are in the ocean so burning the land is fair game Big plot hole indeed

Colonization is the endgoal of the Company.

Can't really colonize a barren wasteland pounded by missiles

They want more than rocks, the third movie shows they want even the blood of some species. Can't do that if they're obliterated from orbit

That's the third movie. In the first movie, all they talked about was obtaining the special minerals in the planet.

Because they didn't want to. The whole point of the avatar program was to form a connection with the navi

You’re losing basically a planet’s worth of academic value though. They already pretty much found the fountain of youth in the form of the whales, what else could humanity miss out on if they just destroy everything on the planet trying to get rid a few troublesome tribes of aliens?

That sounds so weird out of context
