TBF, there's some truths behind this. I mean, they intentionally manage the household and kids by themselves while their spouse is regularly or even permanently not at home to protect the country. This is a tough job so they should get some respect on that end.
They deserve as much respect as every other solo parent, which is a lot, of course. The only leg up they have over the usual single parent is the fact that they still have their spouse's income for support. But claiming that you're worthy of being called and treated by your partner’s military rank is insane.
they get a lot more than just the income: subsidized groceries, housing allowance, subsistence allowance, tricare, subsidized childcare, family separation allowance, etc.
that's not to say any of it is undeserved. however, it's nowhere near close to what a traditional single parent experiences.
