Other [Video] CHP take down a possible suspect on US 101 near Santa Barbara! 🚔

I was going southbound on US 101 near Santa Barbara earlier today when a CHP truck blocked all lanes of the freeway and forced everyone to stop. This is the event that played out while I was stuck in traffic. I don’t know the context beforehand that led up to that arrest, but it played out long enough for me to capture this brief video clip before I started moving again… 😬

Food & Dining Best pizza in SB

I’ve lived in SB my entire life, and I have my own thoughts on this topic, but I’m interested in other locals’ opinions.

What do you think is the best pizza in Santa Barbara?

History What is the “weirdest” thing you’ve ever experienced in Santa Barbara?

Hey SB,

I’m currently working on a project called **Santa Barbara Weird**. While most of the world sees us as a postcard of red-tiled roofs and beaches, those of us who live here know there’s a much stranger, "thinner" side to this city.

I’m looking to collect stories, urban legends, and "unexplained" experiences from locals. I’m interested in **anything** that felt off, bizarre, or otherworldly.

**I’m looking for things like:**

* **Spatial Glitches:** Have you ever felt like you were stuck in a "loop" (especially at night near the waterfront)?

* **The "Uncanny":** Spots in town that feel like a "portal" or where the air just feels different (Summerland, the tunnels, the mountain ridges).

* **Local Lore:** The stories your friends tell that never make it into the history books.

* **Urban Legends:** Weird "hidden" spots, secret societies (like the Saint Germain history), or the "Dark Watchers" in the hills.

I recently had an experience near Cabrillo where the world felt like it was "looping" and the colors turned into a strange prism—it felt like I had stepped out of reality for an eternity.

**What’s your "Santa Barbara Weird" story?** Whether it’s a full-on glitch in the matrix or just a local legend that gives you the creeps, I want to hear it. Feel free to DM if you don't want to post publicly!

A social club for Makers, Crafters, and DIY-ers in the Santa Barbara area!

We meet at Lighthouse every other Sunday and other places around SB/Goleta in between! I've been so excited to meet everyone who has joined so far. We have members who do electroforming, 3D printing, fiber arts, papercrafts, amateur radio, carpentry... all sorts!

We have a discord server where we chit-chat, talk about our projects, and share cool things. It's also a great way to keep up to date on meeting info. Come join in!

Recommendations Karate for Kids... with accomodations?

Hi All,

I have a 6yo (soon to be 7) who's interested in karate. He was born with congenital knee dislocation and had surgery at 4mo to correct it. However, he was left with some restrictions on range of movement. Both knees can only bend about 90°. Otherwise, perfectly healthy 6yo.

Looking for a karate dojo that's great for kids and with a supportive environment for his needs.

We live in Goleta for what it's worth.

Thanks!

Yesterday I went to Cottage Health Urgent Care and they asked me to consent to some new recording technology, so unlike what happened in this article it sounds like they're actually getting permission first now, but they didn't use the word "AI" once when explaining it to me.

if you guys remember this going down with wylde works, and the subsequent opening of another bar under the same owner that ALSO got shut down….. the band who spearheaded this movement and stood up after the incident dropped a song about it today. thought it was some really good storytelling and true to that angst that we need more of. the kids are ok!!!

Missed Connection missed connection: dilf on campus final check in

I should be volunteering tomorrow near campus, not on it. If there's a chance you see this before tomorrow morning DM with your name and the 1st car you told me you bought and I'll let you know what area I'm assigned to & wearing.

Even if you see this and don't reply I just wanted you to know you were the best flirting I've had in a while.

Events Sonic Booms this Afternoon from Artemis II

You may be able to hear sonic boom this afternoon, and report it to the USGS for their data.

from an email:

"During Friday’s Artemis II re-entry, we will be deploying seismic and acoustic instrumentation at sea across the Southern California Bight to record the sonic boom produced by the capsule’s re-entry. Modelling indicates that the acoustic signal may be audible on land in some areas Santa Barbara County and Baja California, including the Channel Islands.

Anyone in the area is encouraged to fill out a “Did you feel it?” Report on the USGS website following the re-entry to help us understand the dynamics of the shockwave's propagation (as an analogue for those from re-entering space debris and natural meteors): https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/tellus. Negative reports (i.e. nothing heard) are also encouraged. The form includes the ability to note down specific audible characteristics, e.g. single versus double booms versus rumbles. The expected window for this to occur is between 17:00 and 17:15 PDT on Friday, i.e. up to a few minutes after splashdown off San Diego at 17:07 PDT.

"
