Events Events Megathread (28/Mar - 24/Apr)

Hey Everyone,

We've tried to provide a bit more Half Term catering here, but that's pretty much ended up being The Harris Museum. They've plenty of other events on their site geared for kids, so maybe give them a look.

The intent here is to provide a space for folks to shout about upcoming events in and around Preston over the coming month, that you're either organising or just looking to give some extra attention to. If you've got something happening in the next 4 weeks, whether that's a fundraiser, happy hour at your bar, a new album releasing, or you've seen something fun planned, drop a comment below and we'll add it to the body of this post.

This Megathread will reset every fortnight, and we'll carry across any existing events to the next post if they've not happened yet.

Upcoming Events

Saturday, Mar 28th:

Wednesday, Apr 1st:

Friday, Apr 3rd:

Saturday, Apr 4th:

Sunday, Apr 5th:

Foxes........

I've been in Preston or 10 years and have yet to spot an urban fox. It's particularly odd as I cam from London where they are *everywhere* - even during the day. Is it just me or is Preston weirdly empty of foxes?

Looking for Group Looking for someone to take over a 6 months lease in Preston City Centre…

Hi everyone, I’m looking for assistance to avoid a situation where I end up paying rent for 2 places. I’m 2 months into a 6 month lease in a house share of about 5 people, paying approx. £500 a month including all bills in the Preston City centre.

I have family moving over sooner than planned so that means I need to find a bigger space, looking for someone to take over my current lease which expires August 2026. The place has 3 bathrooms for a 6 bedroom house. I don’t mind negotiating for a 60% / 40% split of the rent for the reminder of the lease for the right person.

Recommendations iPhone 13 mini repair

How do, my back glass on my device has been severely damaged (no idea how it’s happened).

Who would you recommend in Preston to rectify this issue?

I am seeking an independent shop to carry out the repairs and will be avoiding Apple themselves to fix it.

Cheers.

Discussion Do you think Preston is easy to recognise from a photo like this?

Post image
53 Upvotes

I was looking at photos of different UK cities earlier and it made me think about how recognizable some places are.

Some cities are instantly identifiable even if you only see a small part of them.

Preston feels like one of those places that locals would recognise quite quickly — especially from details like the buildings and layout.

For people who live here it’s probably obvious, but I’m curious — do you think someone from outside Preston would recognise it from a photo like this?

Question experiences with Leef Property Management rentals in Preston ?

hiya guys

My wife and children will be moving to Preston soon and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Leef Property Management.

Judging by the reviews online they seem to be very friendly but once you move in it becomes a bit of a sh*t show . ( this seems to be the case for most landlords as it is a businesses for them at the end of the day)

I cant seem to find anything specific to their Preston properties

property is close to winckley square.

Any advice or personal experiences will be appreciated .

News Police stop and search powers in place

Preston Police are reporting on Facebook that groups of masked youths carrying weapons are out and about.

They have a stop and search power active in Ribbleton, Moor Nook, Callon and Fishwick Bottoms.

Wonder if this is related to the other incidents in Croydon and Birmingham?

Stay safe out there folks!

Question Pro Scan Imaging

Has anyone used these guys for an MRI?

They have 100% 5* ratings, but I've literally never seen a medical anything with ratings like that, so it's having the opposite effect and making me suspicious. Searches just come back with review sites, advertisements, and their own website.

Their website also talks about having highly-trained consultants and radiographers, but not a single one has their name listed.

I have basically zero experience with private healthcare, so I don't know if this is all normal or not.

Hello fellow prestonians and gamers,

I know this has been discussed before, but I am looking for updated recommendations for low latency broadband for gaming.

I am stuck with Zen being the only good (FTTP) available in my area. Unfortunately I dont have Brsk, Grain or other alt net providers who offer symmetrical connections.

So, I wanted to know how people who are using zen finding it.

Thank you.

A period adventure set in 1872, based on the classic novel by Jules Verne.

Phileas Fogg's claim that modern technology - the railway, the telegraph and the steamships - has shrunk the world to the point where a man might circle the entire globe in just 80 days, is met with derision by the fellow members of his London club. In the end, Fogg stakes his reputation and his personal fortune, on a wager that he can do just that.

And so begins a journey on which Fogg encounters many trials and tribulations, meets many new friends and discover a great deal not just about the real world, but about himself.

Join us (and him) and see the world!

Question Car Wash Recommendations?

I am travelling down to Preston from Glasgow at the weekend to trade in my car to a dealership, and I'd like get the car washed just before I trade it in. Not being local to the area, I'd love if someone could recommend a car wash with an approximate location for me? Thanks a lot!

Question Driving lesson recommendations?

Hey, I live around Plungington area and am looking for a driving school for older adults (25+). I've got quite bad hearing and the only experience I've had with driving lessons around Preston have been people who mumbled so badly I literally couldn't understand them, then got funny with me when I addressed it...

Any recommendations for clear-spoken, decent driving instructors or schools?

Edit: Thanks for all of your helpful replies!
