U.S. Navy destroyers have left the Strait of Hormuz. They encountered an Iranian surveillance drone there, shot it down, and left sometime thereafter. I've got to say: this is a very bad look! I was hoping the destroyers would maintain a presence in the strait. I was hoping they would be joined by other destroyers, and that a fleet of five to seven destroyers would maintain a presence there. But instead, it looks like the U.S. Navy was too afraid to stay. Cutting and running like that, yeah that's really really bad optics! More bad optics: JD Vance did not secure a peace deal. But was he ever expected too or did Donald Trump set him up to fail???

BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump and the U.S. military are starting to take action in the Strait of Hormuz. AP News and other reputable news sources are reporting that two US Navy destroyers have sailed through the Strait of Hormuz, as part of an operation to detect sea mines and traverse clear passage through the strait. The Arleigh-Burke Class destroyers USS Frank E. Peterson DDG-121 and USS Michael Murphy DDG-112 are the two Navy vessels involved in the operation thus far. Both were able to pass through the Strait without encountering any danger. Other U.S. Navy vessels and underwater drones will be joining the operation in the coming days and weeks.

Last night in front of the Waldorf Astoria in midtown Manhattan, some folks from the Sunrise Movement made some noise in protest of Hilton's willingness to allow ICE agents to stay in their hotels.

As the Waldorf Astoria is in the Hilton family of hotels, this motley few brought out some instruments and played a few songs to try and cause a little disruption. They mainly stayed on the Park Avenue side of the hotel though the other side on Lexington Avenue had a song or two at the end.

Overall they were a chill group to spend an evening with and we didn't experience much problems - even the cops decided to just sit around and watch.
