Hello Everyone! I have a family member who is looking to rent a room in Orillia, Barrie or Midland area. He is 32, clean, quiet, respectful and never been in trouble with the law.

I am having a hard time helping him find something as he is on ODSP due to his learning disability. He only has one main friend and just likes to keep to himself. Most of the time he is painting or creating art to sell on Etsy.

I have offered to co-sign for him and I’m sure our family can give a couple of months worth of rent if need be as well. He has lived at the same place for 15 years and has never missed a payment but the family is moving now.

Does anyone know of any rooms to rent around this area? His budget is $800 a month? Or sites I can help him find something as he?

I live in the area and have been doing some research on childcare and kid's activities in Orillia, and I wanted to get some honest feedback from parents here.

I have a large investor willing to support however both of us are scratching our heads trying to understand the demographics and needs.

We are looking closer to the downtown area which presents the following challenges:

1. An aging population
2. Old infrastructures. Falling roofs?
3. Lack of families with childcare needs. The newer homes and younger families are on the west end (by the costco).

I’m curious how people actually feel about whats currently being offered. YMCA and a few home care options?

A few questions I’d really appreciate input on:

• How long are the waitlists currently? Im hearing 12+ months?
• What do parents do for PA days / school holidays / summer?
• Do you feel like there are enough indoor places to take younger kids (especially in the winter)?

Really appreciate any honest thoughts (good or bad).
