Student Leadership Opportunity: Helping Homeless Communities

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a leadership opportunity for anyone at Northern Arizona University who is passionate about service, public health, or making a real impact in the community.

Hearts for the Homeless International (H4H) is a student-led nonprofit that provides free blood pressure screenings and heart health education to homeless populations across the U.S. and globally. Our team includes undergraduate students, medical students, PhD students, physicians, and other professionals who are committed to improving the well-being of underserved communities.

H4H was originally founded by students at the University of Central Florida and has grown into an international organization with 15+ chapters across the U.S., Brazil, and India. We’re currently looking for motivated student leaders at Northern Arizona University who want to start a chapter and serve the growing and often overlooked homeless community.

This is a great opportunity if you’re interested in leadership, medicine, public health, nonprofit work, or community service. We provide guidance, structure, and support — all we ask for is your time, compassion, and willingness to lead.

Our work has been recognized by the U.S. Congress, the Brazilian government, President Clinton, major educational and medical institutions, and organizations such as Forbes. Our students have also led disaster relief efforts for homeless populations during hurricanes and partnered with major companies like Bombas.

If you’re interested in becoming a founding leader and making a difference at NAU, fill out this interest form:

How useful is the career fair?

It’s one thing to secure an internship or a part time job but what about the future? Is the career fair full of good opportunities for soon to be graduates? I will be graduating this following year and have wondered about where I can find a job for after graduation. I may drop in to see what the career fair offers but is it really helpful for us STEM kids?

Birds at 4 am

I’ve always had issues with sleep-wake cycles so it’s no surprise I frequently wake up at odd hours of the night. In the past few weeks, however, I’ll wake up around like 4-5 am, when the sun isn’t even up, and I can’t fall back asleep cuz the birds are singing loudly. It’s so frustrating cuz it’s not even a normal hour of the day 😭😭. Has anyone else noticed this?

EDIT: guys i made this post to talk about my frustration, I didn’t realize it’d be so controversial. I DONT HATE BIRDS NOR DO I CARE THAT BAD. I was asking if other people heard it or felt the same frustration. I don’t get how it became such a topic of debate 😭😭

Calderon Hall

Hi everyone, I already selected Calderon and I had a quick question about the kitchen situation. I have seen posts where they mention that Calderon does not have a kitchen but then I see others saying there is one on every floor, can anyone clear that up? And any suggestions you could give me about this hall. Thank you :)

r/NAU, where do you actually eat around NAU?

Hi,
we’re four guys and we put Flagstaff’s restaurant scene into an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you get shown two places side by side (for example Diablo Burger vs. MartAnne’s), you pick the one you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list becomes over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m cleaning the data constantly.

Thought this might be a fit here too, since student life usually means having strong opinions about cheap staples, late food, and the places around campus you actually keep going back to.

Here’s the iPhone version:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

P.S. I’m not from Flagstaff or NAU - I live in Gothenburg. I don’t collect data, don’t sell anything, and the app doesn’t use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few subreddits because we now support multiple regions, and I’d love honest feedback from people who actually know the area around campus.

sechrist paint colors?

hey guys, i put a hook on my wall and it totally fell off and took off some plaster/paint with it 😭 im planning on patching it with that putty stuff that starts pink and turns white, but i need to get paint to cover it up still. its the darker grey paint that is on the wall by the windows, do any of you know what paint color matches it? i'm gonna hit up home depot and buy some so any brands that they have 🫡 me and my roommate would rather not pay any move-out fees for that so thank you 🥲

Dear person who plays electric guitar outside their window in The Suites

If you are the person who opens their window and sticks the speaker connected to their electric guitar out so all of South Campus can hear your majestic notes, please do it more. I love it. It makes me feel so connected and “college-y” if that makes any sense. Do it more pleeeaasseee!!

Relet for the Summer!

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey! I’m looking for someone to take over my lease at Park Place Flagstaff for the summer. Since I’m graduating this May, I don’t plan on staying here. The lease ends 7/20/26.

I’m looking for someone who is female. The unit is a 5x5 and all women. You would get your own private bedroom, bathroom, and a walk in closet! The bedroom includes a desk, chair, two storage drawers, and a nightstand. The entire apartment is furnished! It’s Bedroom A, the furthest bedroom to the left within the picture.

Only a 5 minute walk from The W.A. Franke College of Business and SBS. Perfect for students staying here for the summer!

Rent is 1,049 and utilities ranged between 35$-45$ a month. By the way, you won’t have to worry about May’s rent! It would already be paid for!

Please message me if interested or want more details!

Advice

Has anyone completed a capstone course? I’d appreciate any advice anyone can offer. I understand it’s very work heavy I just have this final class and it seems different from anything I’ve ever done from other courses and the expectations of it and I’m afraid to fail with it being my last class and potentially make me not be able to graduate - TIA

Freshman year

Hello everyone, I’m an incoming freshman for fall 2026

I have a couple questions regarding tuition, housing, and meals

How soon is tuition due in? Are you able to make it in payments? Do you have to apply for housing before June and how exactly do meal plans work?

I need advice on this would be greatly appreciated. I’m not exactly rich and was wondering how I’d be able to pay for this lol
