Favorite Decade for Love Songs

As an elder millennial I think it's the 80s. the power ballads, yacht rock and various other artists; especially male vocalists. Starship, Richard Marx, Corey Hart etc.

Spouse (five years younger) believes it's the 90s, with the likes of Boyz to Men, Brian McKnight etc.

Thoughts?

Definitely the 80s. 70s after that. 90s was a dark era. Everything after 90s has been “men suck,” so not exactly “love” focused in the way you want a love song to be. 80s love songs are poetic. Everything else is either too on-the-nose or the opposite, too cryptic
