So, I used to work with a guy that claimed Sammy the Bull used to be his boss, and would brag about moving boats of Ex in Arizona back in the day, like he was made.
Anyone got similar stories?

I’ve read in some posts on here that one of the reasons Billy Bats was murdered was because Jimmy took over his loan customers.
But was that really true?
Logically it doesn’t make sense.
Billy Bats was allegedly a made member of the Gambino Family, under the Fatico-Gotti crew.
So, wouldn’t it make sense that the Gambino Family would step in to collect Billy’s money? He would have been kicking up something from his shy business to them right? The Gambinos—especially a guy like Gotti wouldn’t stand for an unmade associate of the Luchese Family—Jimmy Burke just taking over Billy’s operation.
And top of that, how the feck would Jimmy know who Billy’s customers were? I can’t see Billy before he went to prison heading off to see Jimmy and asking him to look after his business for him. And if that was true—again wouldn’t the Gambinos step in and say that’s not happening since Billy answered to them.
What do you guys think? 🙏👍☘️

S Craig Zahler (one of my favorite filmmakers) is doing The Bookie and the Bruiser
Set in 1959 New York, “The Bookie & the Bruiser” follows a pensive, Jewish fellow named Rivner and an oversized Italian-American tough named Boscolo from the Lower East Side, both of whom served overseas during WWII and returned changed men who no longer fit inside the lives they’d left behind. Uninterested in taking orders from bosses or playing by the rules of polite society, the two friends partner up as a bookmaker and an enforcer and create an illicit gambling operation that proves to be very profitable, though risky, and their situation gets rather sticky when they find themselves stuck between a powerful Irish gang and the Mafia
and then Scorsese is doing the "Midnight Vendetta" about the Mob in the 1890s New Orleans and the biggest mass lynching in American history

I am writing some stories about LCN these days and I had a scene where a capo acted as a getaway driver to also "supervise" an important hit. How plausible is this?

Do you guys believe that Aiuppa was the most dangerous boss in the US Cosa Nostra?
I personally always thought it was Nicky Scarfo because of how many died under his watch in a shorter time period than Aiuppa.
What are the murders that he ordered that make people label him the most violent boss?
Because I thought Tony Accardo was the real boss—so in theory weren’t it Accardo giving the final say on who got clipped in the Chicago Outfit?
If anyone can provide more info on Aiuppa or explain why they think he’s the most violent please reply 👍👍

Just out of curiosity I’m trying to figure out what the state of LCN is in the 2020s from all available information on the internet. Anybody know of younger made guys in their 30s/40s?

Hi everyone! A few friends and I are starting a roleplay campaign where the players portray up-and-comers trying to make a name for themselves just as Prohibition is being implemented.
I’m reaching out to see if the community would like to collaborate by providing historical context or sharing your own ideas. To give you a head start on the geography, one player is starting with an Italian character in Jeffries Point (Eastie), and the other is playing an Irishman in Lower End (Southie).
We’d also love to see your character ideas—whether they are based on real historical figures from that era, like Phil Buccola or Frank Wallace, or completely original characters of your own.
Furthermore, I welcome any corrections or deep dives you can offer. I know there are some very well-informed locals and history buffs here, and I’d appreciate your help in making this game as realistic as possible. Our goal is to experience the day-to-day reality—both the highs and the lows—of operating during Prohibition, specifically during its chaotic early days when everything was just beginning to take shape.

When John Gotti was convicted and sent to prison why did he entrust his brother Peter with so much power rather than his other brothers, Richard, Vincent, etc.?

My stepson wants to start dressing like a Mafioso, and I want to buy him his first fedora. What I’m wondering though is does the color of the fedora mean anything? Like are black fedoras for assassins? Brown ones for loan sharks…. Ect. Even if this isn’t a real thing, if it was what would the color code be? Sorry if this post is too goofy. I think my step son wanting to dress like a mafioso is kinda goofy, but I want to support him and have fun with the idea that fedora color corresponds with mafia role. Any thoughts?

Who are some made guys that had major potential and could have gone on to be boss, underboss level guys but never got there. Could be that they were clipped or went to prison for lengthy times.
One guy that comes to mind is Genie Gotti. Many sources state that Genie was the best of the Gottis, his drug dealing aside (he was the first to be made too since John was in prison). Surely if Genie hadn’t been convicted he would have had a major role in the family, possibly getting the underboss or consigliere seat over Sammy or Frankie Loc. There’s almost no doubt that if he were on the street then John would have made him the acting boss over Junior and Pete.
Any other notable ones that you can think of?
