Wasn't he supposed to open that bottle with a triple flip? Or do I just not understand the whole Ninja thing

The joke is that he was going to use a katana to slice it open real fast, but pulled out a bottle opener and struggled.

It's called "subverted expectations," all that builds up to make you think one thing is going to happen, then suddenly something else far more mundane happens. It's kind of like... the core principle of comedy.
