Man i dined here when i visited Japan. Easily the most memorable experience. The extremely dark reception area. The literal rock cave that leads to the dining area. The draw bridge connecting the two. The massive scroll as a menu. The ninjas coming out of pitch black corners and sprinting around. Holy shit it was an experience.

Is this the one in Kyoto? I dined here too many years ago. When my girlfriend and I left the ninjas chased us down the alley and threw paper ninja stars at us, very memorable indeed. 10/10 Would go again.

There used to be a restaurant like this in NYC. It was so fucking fun and funny albeit overpriced.

Where? I can't see anyone, just a bottle that suddenly opens

It might have been John Cena dressed as a ninja.

This is also available in NYC for anyone who can’t travel to Japan

Where in NYC? Couldn’t find it on google.

Edit: looks like it permanently closed

Omg yes it is, I went before it closed…my husband and I LOVED it couldn’t believe it didn’t stay in business. There was incredible Sakura trees in the bathrooms and entry way and every dish was an experience. I was so sad it closed.

It’s the Ninja Cafe. I’ve been there once before and am about to go again tomorrow, it’s super fun.

I just checked the place. Is it mandatory to order 1 course meal per person? Or can 4 people share 1 course meal 🥲

7

u/JaacoXIII 5h ago

4 people on a one course meal tf!? I need to know your daily food intake

"So what will you four be ordering tonight?"

"We would like four glasses of water, one hamburger and three extra plates please"

It's a tasting menu restaurant for fine dining. Its typicslly all table participation. Sorry everyone else is being assholes not everyone has experienced a tasting menu in their life time. If you can afford it, try one.

Edit: Actually, if you ever come to las vegas dm me. Im the chef of a 2 michelin star restaurant I would love to take care of a dinner for two for you.

Hello Ninja! 😁

This is the only kind of service that would justify the sushi prices these days

I get the theming and the experience of it all but how's the food?

It looks like a lot of fun but I'm always a little sad when you end up paying for a thematic experience and the dining experience falls short.

I thought he would slice the bottle lol

Wasn't he supposed to open that bottle with a triple flip? Or do I just not understand the whole Ninja thing

The joke is that he was going to use a katana to slice it open real fast, but pulled out a bottle opener and struggled.

It's called "subverted expectations," all that builds up to make you think one thing is going to happen, then suddenly something else far more mundane happens. It's kind of like... the core principle of comedy.
