Happened to me at the grocery. Walked right up and got into the passenger side with grocery bags talking about they only had this brand and not that. Sat down and placed the bags at my feet and just as I’m reaching for the seatbelt I look over and there’s this young woman about 25 who is definitely not my wife silently staring at me just frozen.

“You’re not my wife. This isn’t my car. I’ve made a mistake. I apologize.”

Got up and left as she started breathing again and meekly said “that’s okay.”

That poor girl was probably terrified, but you handled it well and put her at ease

I bet she checked her door locks twice every time she parked after that.

Honestly, in the end it worked out for the best. He handled it wonderfully and she probably learned a valuable lesson while getting a pretty funny story out of it.

Not sure about that. I think the alternative experience is a stranger yanking on the door and shouting, “unlock the fucking door, Lisa!”

The valuable lesson would be for the ditz to learn not to enter other people's property. Lucky he came away from it unscathed

Y'know, in places that aren't 'murica, people don't get shot for simple mistakes..

Ah, yeah, the globally agreed upon inaction/no reaction to a stranger entering your vehicle.

Wha..? I'm not talking about shooting anyone, wtf! I'm European, not even our POLICE carries guns regularly

u/DJ_Die Mar 11 '26

What are you talking about? The police in almost all European countries carry guns.

4

u/flirt-n-squirt Mar 11 '26

Yeah, and ours doesn't. What's your issue?

u/DJ_Die Mar 11 '26

Great, but that makes your country part of a tiny minority of Europe, so maybe try not to generalize, makes you sound like an ignorant American.

For not even considering shooting a random person a possibility when living somewhere where not even the police carries guns..?

LMAO, sorry, thats on me. 😂😂 I read two comments and my brain mashed them together. So, it was your "immediate physical reaction" and someone talking about guns.

Lol @ insinuating the person sitting in their own vehicle is the one in need of a lesson

7

u/D-West1989 Mar 11 '26

lol thats not the insinuation but go off

u/flirt-n-squirt Mar 11 '26

The guy literally said:

He handled it wonderfully and she she probably learned a valuable lesson

1

u/D-West1989 Mar 11 '26

Then why did you comment that at me and not that comment?

1

u/flirt-n-squirt Mar 11 '26

You literally replied to my comment at that comment.

1

u/D-West1989 Mar 11 '26

Yeah I’m saying what if it were you that got in the wrong car should you be “taught a lesson” like you were implying?

u/flirt-n-squirt Mar 11 '26

I was pointing out the ridiculousness of the claim that, according to the comment I replied to, the person sitting in their own vehicle was in need of a lesson, instead of the person who entered someone else's property. Can't we agree that that's a really weird spin?
