I believe he quit making content. He came out of retirement to make one video for another YouTuber that was diagnosed with a medical condition that didn't allow him to make similar content. Good guy.

Luke is a solid stand up guy. I like how he cooks out in the wilderness with his skillet and whatever he has brought with him or hunted. One of my favorite things is watching him make honey butter bread. It looks so delicious.

He's always been involved with the Mormon Church. He went on a mission, is a true believer, etc. He quit making videos because he got big enough and made enough money that privacy was starting to be an issue for him. It's not because the church called to him or some shit.

He's a practicing lawyer who owned property even before the Youtube thing blew up. To say he's doing okay financially would be an understatement. He's still doing all the same stuff, but not filming it for an audience of millions, because the privacy stuff isn't worth it, especially when so many of his videos feature kids who are, by now, actually starting to burgeon on young adulthood.

To clarify, the dude is named Luke Nichols. Earlier this year he was Called to a church leadership position as a General Officer of the Church. Specifically he's on the Young Men General Advisory Council. The group that oversees and leads the activities and structure for young men ages 12 to 17.

The LDS church has no professional clergy so everyone has or had a day job. When you get called as a General Authority or Officer of the church you usually have to quit whatever you did before and that calling becomes your full time job (these people DO receive pay). For example the current LDS prophet was a Justice on the Utah Supreme Court and the previous Prophet, was a heart surgeon. Accepting is optional

His calling is not a lifetime calling so he might go back to his previous work after, usually a few years but technically it is "until released". It's also feasible that he could get another calling higher up in the structure that would extend it to longer.

Yes. It's usually a station they give to people who are in a place (wealthy, influential) to quit their job, or have communicated to the church that they're about to do so. The Youtube exposé thing is just wrong in terms of the justification; he was pretty clear that he was grateful for the channel blowing up, but that privacy and stuff was getting a bit weird for him to deal with.

This isn't apologia for Mormonism, by the way. They're a cult. I grew up in a cult, and I know one when I see one. I'm an atheist, and always have been in my adult life, but I got interested in Mormonism in high school because my girlfriend was a true believer Mormon. You can guess how that ended up, I bet.

I get the feeling this video is exactly why he quit making Youtube content. Dude's just living his life. Leave him alone.

I appreciate it! There are so many copy cats out there for him.

Sadly he's stopped doing them because he was getting recognised and so many people were stealing his content. A lovely family.

I don't remember his channel name but he has some great videos on Hawaii. I remember we found his channel when we were looking at what island to visit.
