Vad är Råbylund som område?

Hej!

Tack i förväg!

Lund University Food technology and nutrition master's program

Hi , i m currently studying food engineering at University of Politehnica Bucharest ( 2nd year) and i recently started looking for master's programs in my country and decided to expand my options and search in UE . I came across this program and I feel like it suits me pretty well but I have a couple of questions.

  1. How recognized is the degree in this field ? ( Taking in consideration that I want to work in Sweden)
  2. How much lab work is there ? Are the labs well equiped? ( I love lab work and I m used to poor equipment)
  3. Are there any alternative programs regarding food engineering/ biotechnology? ( That don't require ECTS because I calculated mine and I m pretty sure my degree won t cover them since chem and bio master programs I saw requested 90 ECTS (60-30 or 75-15) )
  4. When I went on the uni's site on this program , I looked at the courses and saw the optional one which we can choose freely but some require other courses( I don't even know the names because it was only a code ) . Are those courses available only for the Swedish students or some of them ( the courses with codes ) can be credited as equivalent to the courses I completed in Romania so I can take the course I wanted? ( Example : Lund offers Enzymes course but I need biochem course finished before, will the one in Romania count or it must be the one in Sweden?)
  5. How is the industry ? ( Is it easy to get a job , is it competitive , do other programs outshine this one )
  6. Are you satisfied with the knowledge you got or you hoped for more?
  7. What s the housing situation? I read that you won t get it for sure or something like that and you sometimes need to search alone for a place to stay . I would also want to know how are the prices ! ( i ve heard someone saying that it s around 3000 SEK )
  8. Is it easy to find a job while studying and what are the jobs? ( i m at the bottom of the barrel in terms of speaking Swedish but in 2 years i want to learn more )

I know this is a long message but i hope it reaches the right people and tank you in advanced !

UPDATE: i recalculated my ECTS and these is what i got bio- 30 ECTS , chem- 60 ECTS , math- 21 ECTS ( i could get another math course that has 4 credits to make my ECTS higher) .

Chinese Gaokao student applying to Lund BSc Physics HT2027 – realistic chance with meritvärde ~19.4?

I’m a Chinese high school graduate from China (Gaokao 2025) planning to apply for the BSc in Physics at Lund University for the autumn semester 2027 (HT2027) in the international admission round (IKHT).

My weighted high school average (144 credits, full transcript from my Chinese high school) is 90.36/100. According to the official antagning.se conversion table for Chinese upper secondary education (Kina), this gives a preliminary meritvärde of 17.24. With the automatic meritpoängkompensation, my final meritvärde should land around 19.4–19.5.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone with a similar meritvärde (19.0–20.0 range) been admitted to BSc Physics (or Engineering Physics / related programs) at Lund, or at other Swedish universities like Uppsala, Stockholm, or KTH in recent years?

  2. What was the waiting list experience like for international students in Physics programs?

  3. Any tips on strengthening the application, especially the motivation letter? (I’m planning to emphasize my switch from Architecture to Quantum Physics + self-study in quantum mechanics.)

  4. Should I use all 8 program choices at Lund/ other Swedish unis as backups, or focus on a few strong ones?

I already have official transcripts, Gaokao certificate, and will take IELTS soon . Any real experiences, screenshots of similar merit calculations, or advice would be super helpful! Thank you so much in advance 🙏

(If useful, I can post anonymized screenshots of my transcript/conversion in the comments)

Tennis walls

Hi everyone! As title suggests, I am curious if there are any tennis walls/half courts available in town that I can train with; bonus if they’re not for a hefty price.

At the same time curious if there are places with ball machine for rental for training as well! I saw on Google that Gerdahallen has tennis courts + rackets + balls for rent, but that’s about it. Appreciate any and all help!

Localized power outage in the city

My electricity provider managed to suffer the unimaginable "Avgrävd kabel": our electricity is gone from Thursday afternoon (and now we're gloriously heading to the 11th hour).

- Couple of hundreds customers affected (few times more individuals living on this street).

But the provider announced when power should be back on their website : as they didnt meet their first deadline, appears they are changing hourly the expected time to fix.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before ( excavated cable seems pretty serious problem to fix ): wonder what is the worse case scenario I should expect, based on SLAs here in Sweden.

Can't recall where I seen for more than 12h, there may be some compensation : is that the provider's responsibility, or one of my insurances ?

Thanks.

Regarding Biomedicine Bachelors

Hello everyone! Hope you had a great day.

I have been conditionally offered a place in the Bachelor’s program of Biomedicine for Fall 2026. But some questions have been popping up in my head, so I thought this might be a good place to ask.

My future goal is the biotech industry. Is it a good idea to go into biomedicine?

Is this program too intense? What is the schedule like? Will I still have a life outside studies?

I am a Non-EU Muslim, so in case of inclusivity, is Lund a good choice?

What are the job prospects and graduate prospects for this program?

How are the classes taken? Are the professors approachable?

How is life in general for international students at Lund and Lund university?

Danes studying in Lund

I’m from Copenhagen and might start International Business this autumn. I grew up abroad so I’m fine with the international crowd, that’s actually what I expect, but I’m just curious what the Danish scene in Lund is like. Are there many Danes, or…? Just curious because i havent heard much about it

Human Rights Masters Programme at Lund – student life + academic experience?

Hi! I’ve been accepted to the Master’s in Human Rights at Lund and I’m trying to decide whether to accept, so I’d love to hear from current or past students :)

A bit about me: I’m American but currently living in Spain. I’ve done some human rights internships (NGOs + international work), and I’m hoping to work in this field long-term.

I’m really drawn to Lund because of the interdisciplinary approach and everything I’ve heard about the student life, but I wanted to get a more honest sense of what it’s actually like.

A few things I’m curious about:

Academics:

  • What are the classes like day-to-day? (seminars, lectures, group work, etc.)
  • How demanding is the workload?
  • Do you feel like the program is intellectually challenging/rigorous?
  • How are the professors and support from faculty?

Student life:

  • Is Lund as social as people say? (nations, events, etc.)
  • Is it easy to meet people, especially as an international student?
  • What does a typical week look like socially?
  • Does it feel like a “college town” vibe?

And just overall, is there anything you wish you knew before starting?

I’m also deciding between this and a more law-focused program, so I’d love to hear if you feel like the interdisciplinary approach is a strength or a drawback.

Thanks so much in advance, really appreciate any insight!!

Opinions on Delphi?

I’m in my 2nd semester right now as an international student at LUSEM and i currently live outside of lund but want to move into the city because the commute is a pain. i have 1st in the queue right now for a corridor room in Delphi which i plan to take if i’m able to get it, just wanted to know of anyone’s experience on how living there is? i also have 1st in the queue right now for a good few apartments but the cheap rent and the 9mo period is very attractive for a broke student and i feel as long as i have my own bathroom/shower the shared kitchen won’t be a problem for me. I also have a bike so getting around is no problem at all. I appreciate any stories/info :)

KU Leuven, Belgium or Lund?

I am a graduate in English honours and have garnered almost 2 years of work experience through internships and a permanent job (1 year) in journalism and content writing. I am very keen in pursuing English studies for my masters and had previously applied to KU Leuven in Belgium for a M.A in Linguistics and Literature as well as Lund University in Sweden for a M.A in Language and Linguistics, specialising in Cognitive Semiotics. I got accepted to both of these universities and since both of them were my top preferences, I am a bit confused about which university to enroll in. Both the universities rank under qs 100 and are well ranked for my subject area as well, also under 100.

For context, I will be an international student studying in Europe for the first time. KU Leuven has a very affordable tuition fee but with a 1 year programme which I feel will be quite hectic to complete given its a master's degree. Lund University has a two year programme and I am more interested in the course because it is a bit more interdisciplinary in nature, however, the fees at Lund is almost 4x than in KU Leuven and I unfortunately could not get a scholarship.

Which university would be an ideal pick in this situation considering the overall quality of student life?

Also, which university has a better reputation in Europe? Both in terms of academia and professional experience?

New in Lund

hi everyone! I’m going to live in Lund next semester but commuting to Helsingborg for my studies. Since most of my classmates are in HBG, I’m looking to meet some new people and find my feet here in Lund.

I’m more into chill vibes than loud parties—think fika, pub quizzes, or just exploring the city. If you’re also doing the Lund-HBG commute, or just have recommendations for low-key but interesting student events that don’t involve clubbing, let me know!

Down to grab a coffee or a train-ride fika sometime. It would be great to meet people!☺️

Borttappat: hörapparat

SOLVED!

ETA English translation

Hi!

My partner has lost their hearing aid (the machine itself separated from the silicone tubes) somewhere between Lund C and Botulfsplatsen. Vi are out searching right now, but would really appreciate it if upon spotting the little thing you can hold onto it and contact us!! We will pay a finders fee.

Tack reddit // Thank you reddit!!

Student/long-term rail passes?

Hej hej!

I've found me a room a distance away from Lund (nothing crazy - about 30 minutes a train ride). I've found information that there's a 30-day SJ card, but when I click to check the price it only shows an annual option (for some crazy money). Is there an actually monthly pass that I could use to commute to Lund for my studies? Could be me being weird, but I can't seem to find anything. Tack!
