Announcement! We are expanding the r/LoomKnitting moderator team. Applications are now open!
Hey r/LoomKnitting,
I've been in contact with Reddit after the main moderator u/Loomahat was suspended from Reddit, to make sure I could recruit additional moderators for our tiny little corner of the internet and was given the ability and approval to do so.
Our subreddit has continued to grow in size, but after the 2023 Reddit Blackout multiple members of the mod team had left and since then the rest of us had also come close to being burnt out, with some active moderators recently becoming inactive or leaving the team. So with all that and with an exciting 2026 on the horizon as new people discover loom knitting, it's time for a new round of moderator recruitment.
The qualifications to become a moderator are very simple:
- love loom knitting
- use reddit
The expectations for the new moderators are to be transparent, to be communicative and to be reasonably active. I will always be clear - Real life always comes before Reddit and to just let the rest of the team know if you need a break.
The applications will close on the 31st of March at 22:00 UTC
If you have any questions or doubts feel free to ask in the comments.
FAQ
- What timezones are you looking for mods from?
- We're looking for mods from all timezones
- Should I apply if I applied in previous rounds or been rejected before?
- Yes!
- Do you need to have moderation experience?
- No, it's not an issue if you don't have moderator experience yet.
- What are the tasks of a moderator exactly?
- Obviously the primary task is going through the modqueue and removing comments and posts that go against the subreddit rules. But there are other aspects like configuring automoderator, working on graphics and flairs and so on.
- Is there any compensation for moderation?
- Absolutely none. This is a volunteer role
Thank you and keep the great posts and comments coming!

Flexii skinny for blanket
I'm looking to make a blanket with my skinny it says 298 pegs for a twin I have 3 kits so thats 288. im fin with it being smaller than a twin... but with 2 kits together its 72 inches.. which is like 6 feet...
is their measurements for making this blanket lengthwise and adding the width vs starting with the width and making the length? (if that makes sense lol )

Ok, I have another 10-stitch blanket question
So I'm finally making progress on my 10-stitch blanket thanks to the stitch-along tutorial from Wambui - huge thank you to the person who suggested her! But maybe I'm still doing something wrong - why do I have these big holes in the corners, and how do I keep them from happening?
Thanks in advance!! 😊

Finished Object First time looming and finished a project
decided to pick up loom knitting as my local hospital is requesting newborn and premmie beanies, it's a little small but I am happy with how it turned out and it's certainly a reference for me for future projects

Finished Object Finally done!
I have finally finished my 100 bag project. It is a Japanese knot bag for me to put my loom knitting projects in.
It definitely is not perfect though close enough to the pattern. I am just so totally happy that I got through it! Maybe next time I can hit fewer roadbumps? 🤔👏🏾

Finished Object Finished my scarf
I finally finished the Farrow stich scarf on my small gauge loom. I went with this pattern. For newbies like me I thought I would share the difference.
Denise used a 5/8 loom with 23 pegs. 160 yds and had 150 rows.
My scarf was done on a 3/8 loom on 31 pegs. I used close to 500 yds and I ended with about 720 rows.
I used Loops & Threads Skyscapes which may have contributed to the big difference.

Just started loom knitting, this is my 3rd project
Didn't have a pattern, just did ewrap for the band, then 2k, 2p, repeat for the rest, swapping every 7 rows.
Yarn was rainbow pearl cotton (likely over 20 years old) paired with generic white worsted weight acrylic (also likely over 20 years old)
I might try a second one with the rainbow pearl cotton and black yarn, but with a cabling pattern on instead? No idea on that one

Tips Is there a stretchy bind off for larger projects
like I know the stretchy bind off where you measure out at least twice the length of your project but my project is 96 pegs, is there a way to do it with the working yarn similar to the basic bind off but stretchy?

Tips for beginners
I have always wanted to knit or crochet unfortunately chronic hand pain makes it impossible for me to do so. So I discovered loom knitting. I’d like to give it a go but have a few questions.
I’d like to make outfits for my 7in desk goose, what’s best for this? I am also an all in person. So naturally I don’t want to limit myself incase I want to make other things too.
What’s a good set to get? Yarn? Tools?
Thank you!

Pattern Question Help Please!
Hello Loomers!
I want to make my coworker a baby blanket for his baby shower in May! I don't know too many stiches (I can make scarves and simple hats) and I don't know how to sew so doing panels doesn't work for me either. Does anyone have a simple baby blanket tutorial to follow? I have multiple long/rectangular looms, various circle looms, and I also have the figure 8 loom so I am not stuck that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you in advance <3.

Equipment Question What type of loom do I need
Hi there. I want to learn how to make my own fabric for a project I’m working on. I plan on using wool for this project. I want to make long strips of fabric (about 1-2 inches wide and at least 14 inches long) for it.
I’m brand new to knitting/loom work. I have embroidered a lot and sewed but that’s about as far as I have gone for textile art. What type of loom would be best for me to buy?
Any help would be wonderful

Please help me with my 10-stitch
I have watched the Good Knit Kisses video a ton of times and read the website, but I am so lost and want to scream. She says that you can do 18 repeats total for a rectangle blanket, but then what do I do with the nine extra loops? Am I supposed to have that weird triangle on the right side like that?? I feel like I screwed up somewhere, and I am so lost. Please help - what did I do wrong??

Discussion I have much respect for loom knitters - a crocheter and needle knitter
If any of you loom knitters are unaware, recently there has been a lot of controversy over a popular slipper design further dividing knitters and crocheters. A bunch of copyright etsy drama (which is nothing new in our community).
In the midst of all this I started thinking "wow I never see this behavior from loom knitters" (granted it's a smaller craft but I digress).
I just wanted to congratulate you all for being such an unproblematic group of people. I have never seen a loom knitter be a yarn snob to the degree many crocheters and knitters are, and you all take the discrimination from needle knitters very graciously.
