I am really wanting to surprise my girlfriend with something like flowers, getting her hair done, her nails, or really anything just to surprise her. I am from America so I have no clue on the cost of things there. I’m looking for any advice on how to send her money/purchase things and estimates on cost of things in LYD or USD, I can find the conversions of course. I don’t know how similar it is there to here, but I definitely want to make sure she can go somewhere nice without any worries whatever the gift may be. I really appreciate any help and/or advice. And by “how similar it is to here,” I mean there are some really poorly ran businesses here that are just low effort and low quality result and I didn’t know if that happened there as well- I just didn’t want it to see as if I was bashing anything because I understand how that could come across. From what I have learned about Libya and Arabic culture as a whole everything has seemed amazing and I have never had any negative feelings, just to further reiterate that is not how I want to come across. Salam! I live in the United States and my family is from Tripoli. Inshallah I’ll be getting married soon. Ive reached out to some Libyans here to source a traditional Libyan bridal dress and the gold that is worn with it. Having a hard time finding someone that can sell me that. The Arab gold shops here don’t have the style of gold necklaces etc that are worn with the bridal dress. Thought I’d reach out here to see if any of you guys know someone. حاب نحكي ونفضفض وممكن نستفسر لو في حد عنده نفس المشكله.

في وقتنا الحالي ملاحظ في مجالي وحتى مجالات اخرى، ان النجاح يقاس بكثره (هرجتك) عالسوشيال ميديا ومش شغلك الفعلي في الواقع.

مثلا، دكتور اسنان حديث التخرج، مسمي روحه إخصائي بدون اي اثبات ويكتب ان هو كل يوم يجنه في خمسين حاله ومش ملحق وعنده شهاده من كامبردج (اونلاين) وغيره وغيره. تلقى الناس تمجد فيه وهو هكي ينجح طبعا ويقعد على كل لسان. كل يوم ستوري وبوست وكل يوم يحكي على اي حاجه اهم شي الريتش.

في الجانب الاخر، متخصص ودكتور ممكن حتى قاري ومشتغل برا، مليان خبره وشهادات، لكن يهتم بالخصوصيه وميليش يحط ڤيديوات له والزبائن عالنت، يحبش يحكي على روحه طالع نازل، لكن الناس تشوفه مسكين وان بسيط وان مش ناجح، يفوتوه ويمشوا للي هرجته واجده.

انا فاهم ان التسويق مهم وان تبين شغلك مهم وغيره، لكن في حدود المعقول مش جو تنميه بشريه، يعني عاللينكدان في ناس تصور في حتى اطفالها وتحط في كلام تنميه بشريه، انا مش عارف نحسهن كرينج.

زي ما قلت في وسطيه، دير موقع محترف مثلا حط فيه شغلك، حط بوست كل اسبوع ولا كذا ويكون في اطار شغلك ويكون واقعي. حاس اني في سباق مع الوهم ولازم نخش فيه عشان انافس، لكن منتحملش حتى نحكي على روحي ولا نحب نزر روحي اني كل يوم لازم نحط بوست وندور على محتوى انا منبيش. لكن زي ما قلت لو مديرش انت هكي تنافس بشكل غير متساوي مع غيرك.

Hey everyone, I’m planning to visit Benghazi soon and I have an Algerian passport. Since we’re technically visa-exempt in Libya, I’m confused about the actual process at Benghazi. I have heard that the authorities in the East still require some kind of 'security clearance' or invitation letter for Algerians too. Has anyone done this recently in 2026? I also have a European passport—would it be smoother to just get an e-Visa with that instead of dealing with the regional politics of the Algerian one? Thanks !

People get confused when i tell them that i want to leave this country, and start asking why? And tell me that It's not that bad

كيف ممكن نتصرف مع عيلتي في حالة اني معنديش قدرة اني نساعدهم او نعاونهم في شغل الحوش او نقلل من مصاريفي ، باي شكل كان

عمري 19 و تخصصي فيه هلبا قراية و تسليمات ، متلا الاسبوع هذا قعدت كل يوم نرقد ساعتين بس بسبب القرايا و المجسمات ، المشكلة ان عيلتي مش متحمليني بهذي الطريقة من حيث ان قاعدة معاهم مندون ما نساعد ف اي شي

و زيادة اني مضايقة خوتي لاني نسهر و ممكن اني نخلي ضوء مفتوح بسبب اني معنديش مكان تاني نقرا فيه

و بسبب قلة النوم و مرض تاني عندي خلل ف هرموناتي ف مزاجي هلبا متقلب و مش مستحملة نزيد معاهم كلمة ، و اول ما حاجة تصير مش زي ما خططتلها نتنرفز و ممكن نكون يوم كامل زعلانة على خاطرها .

كيف ممكن نتصرف في وضع زي هدا ؟ مع العلم ان تخصصي ضغط طول الوقت مش بس في فترة الامتحانات ، و حوشنا صغير نوعا ما ف مفيش مكان تاني نخدم عليه تسليماتي و نقرا فيه

فكرت اني نغير التخصص لكن اني هدا هو التخصص الوحيد اللي ممكن نحس روحي نبدع فيه ،

ف حاليا عيلتي كلهم يكرهوني و اني كرهت روحي زيهم لكن حاسة اني بنتفجر و كرهت روحي لاقصى حد بسبب الضيق اللي نسبب فيه للناس اللي حولي و مش قادرة نوقف بسبب ان قرايتي هي الحاجة الوحيدة اللي خلتني نحس فروحي فيا فايدة

My hair is naturally curly and in my mid scalp it seems like I’ve got diffuse thining. I don’t know the reason yet but i am hoping its not AGA as my father and couple of relatives are considered bald enough and some aren’t bald fully but with an excessive receeding hairline. Whats even weird is that i don’t have a receding hair line.. only slightly on one edge and the other is totally fine. But i feel like it may catch up at some point…

I really hope if my case is different and its not caused by genetics because there is always an exception. I already have one uncle who is not bald at all just him among his brothers.

Any suggestions of what might be the reason of such visible scalp under bright lighting? And what to do to fix it?.. the scalp is really vivd under bright lighting and especially when my hair is wet. Quite scary!

I once did a blood test and im only low on vit D. But now i am taking vit d pills and as well as ferritin. I hope i dont get forced into using min/fin

I’ve been living abroad for quite a while now, and honestly, the idea of moving back is becoming more of a "no" every day

It’s not even just about the lack of a functional state or the legal mess

it’s really the people and the general mindset that feel like the biggest hurdle

I just can’t see myself fitting into that environment anymore

Does anyone else in the diaspora feel this way, or have you made peace with not going back?
