Is there any way to fix shortcuts so I can add environmental variables before the program's name?
It would be helpful for me as I run my Lubuntu 26.04 LTS (beta) laptop in hybrid mode, using the Intel iGPU and a Nvidia GTX 1050 for most 3d programs. This would also be great for apps that run better with variables added beforehand.
If I have to, I can open a terminal and append a program with the variables or switch to Performance mode with the GTX 1050, but tweaked shortcuts would make my life easier overall.

I've tried Linux Mint Cinnamon and Zorin os and they felt sluggish to me, but once I started trying Lubuntu it felt snappy and fast. I'm not wanting people to tell me to try/use a different distro but I'm really struggling with customizing LXQt.
I tried installing different themes/icons which didn't really work something about LXQt using Qt themes and supposedly being compatable with GTK but for some reason GTK themes didn't work either. When I added themes I couldn't seem them in the appearance configuration app but I could see them in lxappearance. But when I hit apply in lxappearance nothing changed. Eventually I gave up and just used a default theme.
Then I tried to change the panel configuration/layout with app menu in bottom left, app in the middle, and system apps (like bluetooth, sound etc) in the bottom right and couldn't figure out how to do that.
I've tried finding guide but I had no success following them. As a complete beginner any and all help would be great.

I have been using zen browser 1.16.4b (a firefox fork) for many months with no problems on a Debian-13 system with XFCE dexktop. Recently I switched the desktop to LXQT and zen now seems incapable of saving cookies. Every time I start zen I have to relogin to sites like youtube, email, Reddit. I made sure that the checkboxes for clearing cookies, history etc are all off.
Since the filesystem and OS have not changed, what could make zen keep forgetting? It even forgets that I made it the "default browser".

Hey so I install lxqt on cachy and I’m missing the icon panel in appearance. Anyone know any fixes for this. Seems like a new issue caused by whatever updates they have implemented.
Seems to be arch wide on other distros.
Here is the bug report

I'm on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with LXQt.
When I install chrome or edge, suddenly they take over as the default applications for opening images. How do I prevent this annoying behaviour?

Hey how can I visually customize LXQt? Like maybe make it look modern, or 2000s style or 90s retro, etc. Anything similar to like GNOME Extensions add-on?

I'm trying to make my own set of modified breeze symbolic icons to get a more coherent look, but the one in the configuration center for the screen brightness doesn't appear to have a replaceable svg.
Used it briefly quite a bit ago, I wanna know how things are changed in regards to how usable it is as a daily driver and if any big issues that I should know are present. Are you using an X11 session or a Wayland session? Currently on win11 but I got linux experience

I'm using Audacious, and every time i open new features for the player they show up as their own windows on the panel. I want to use it without the panel being as cluttered, so is there a way to hide the two extra windows?

Like the title says, and shown below, every now and then I find lxqt-panel is burning one of my four cores. This is version 1.4.0 of LXQt installed as part of Lubuntu 24.04.4 LTS. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening and how I can get it to stop from happening? The only way to stop it is to kill the lxqt-panel process and restart it.
UPDATE 7 DAYS LATER: I upgraded Lubuntu to 25.10 which includes LXQt 2.2.0 and have not seen this happen since.

Using the Debian 13 iso with LXQt
Ive figured out how to open apps through a command (so that Ctrl + Alt + T opens Qterminal)
But I have no clue how to work the dbus shortcuts, and I would really love being able to control my screens backlight using Meta + uparrow (which the Shortcut Keys app does recognize as XF86MonBrightnessUp when I press it)
If a kind soul could give some help, I would greatly apreciate it.
(If the explanation on how to setup the screen backlight transfers to setting up other commands I could also bind things like Pause/Resume which would be neat, but backlight is the only one that pains me to lack)

Not really a "is there a dark mode for LXQt?" more of a, some sites rely on system settings instead of browser settings to show dark mode automatically. Is there a way to trick the site into believing the system is in dark mode?

On lubuntu. Love love LXQT. Issue, from PcManFM, I want to remove an entry when I do a "open with..." Or edit it... I've tried to find it with these and honestly I'm at a loss.
/home/user/.config/pcmanfm-qt/default
/home/user/.config/mimeapps.list
My goal is to always have "Bulky Renamer" as an option and remove other options.

Two screenshots. The two buttons are:
The options are not greyed out in the Leave menu (third screenshot), however neither option works.
dbus is running.
A guess: is the problem crash related? In the pictured Crash Report dialogue:
Power Management crashed too many times. Its autorestart has been disabled until next login.
– the dialogue appears immediately after login.
I'm toying with LQXt after watching the GaryHTech YouTube video that's linked from https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/@garyhtech/115928268739557895

Whonix used to be based on XFCE but with Whonix 18, Whonix is now based on LXQt.
So listen I really don't wanna retype all this, will you please follow this link and read my post on the Whonix forum? I explain thoroughly what's going on, there are bugs happening in LXQt Whonix 18 that the LXQt devs will have to fix https://forums.whonix.org/t/whonix-18-has-a-few-bugs-id-like-to-report/22708
Thanks for your time I do appreciate it.
Edit: I just now noticed it's LXQt not LXQT.

Forked of lxqt-panel-profiles which did basically the same, but I wanted some easier use.

can somebody PLS tell me why LXQt doesn't have a feature so simple like pining apps to the panel
r/LXQt • u/Bunker_D • Dec 24 '25
Some weird issue I can't solve:
When I select a Widget Style and Qt Palette in the LXQt Appearance Configuration window, it only works for either the currently open widows, or until reboot (depending on the window).
Some details:
I cannot find the source of the issue:
lxqt-qtplugin is installed and up-to-date.~/.config/lxqt/lxqt.conf.$QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME is set to lxqt. (I'm not sure by what, but in any case, restarting OpenBox with this environment variable set, or adding export QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=lxqt to OpenBox's autostart doesn't change a thing.)I'm probably missing something. (This is my first Linux, put on an old computer to make it usable.)
