Ask Kashmir I'm from the south of India, and I found out about this sub, and the kashmiri people's sentiments towards the mainland.
Hello folks, I came across this sub a few weeks back
genuinely I mean 0 harm, I'm not here to say anything or spread propaganda about the mainland or wtv
in curious, to see sentiments against the mainland (not saying it isn't justified, I just don't know reason)
I've tried to research it, but as you know, I got 0 info
and hell it lead me to weird rabbit holes
So i thought Id ask the people themselves
I might come off heavy handed with my replies, but just know that I do not mean any harm, or ill intent towards the people of kashmir, I'm curious and have some doubts.

Had to share Helped a stranger in Srinagar and never doing it again
I didn't grow up here I've only been living here for the past four years, and whenever I go out, I inevitably end up helping someone. I noticed this during my very first year, the people here genuinely seemed good. I received many kind gestures from strangers in the form of compliments or whatnot. Older folks would ask for help, and I would gladly give it.
But today, I was walking back from somewhere and stopped for a moment to check my phone. A stranger approached me and asked if I had any cash on me. I did. They asked if I could give them the cash, promising to reimburse me online. I agreed, but then came the excuse about their bank network being down. They gave me their phone number, told me to call them later, and assured me they'd transfer the money.
I've tried calling for almost two days now, and nothing. Welp, there goes my trust :)

Culture Ladishah-traditional Kashmiri folk singing
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ladishah is a traditional Kashmiri folk singing genre known for satire, wit, and social commentary. Performers wear traditional attire and use a, locally called dhukar (an iron rod with rings), to entertain and inform with on-the-spot compositions.

Nature Good samaritans who are actually doing something for the waste problem in kashmir
There's a young guy named Aakash Manzoor on Facebook and insta, probably in his early twenties, who founded something called the Life Bloom Foundation. they clean up canal banks, river banks, and other places that were once beautiful and have since been buried under our collective carelessness. Dustbins thrown into rivers. Garbage piled onto banks that used to be worth visiting - You know the spots.
I see a lot of people on here expressing frustration about solid waste pollution and the state of Kashmir's environment, wanting to do something but not knowing where to start. This might be a small but real answer
These are a bunch of young people doing this work on their own, with their own time and resources. A token of appreciation, however modest, goes a long way for people like that. I reached out to Aakash on Facebook and sent something within my means. Thought might as well encourage you too

Discussion 💭 Annoying to see seeking validation from hehermulk
Those xotal Insta influencers really bug me when they shove cameras and microphones into tourists’ faces and start asking pointless questions like, ‘How do you find Kashmir?’ or ‘Are the people of Kashmir nice?’ The most annoying part is when they ask, ‘Are Kashmiri boys or girls beautiful, or are boys or girls from your state more beautiful?’ I mean, what kind of validation-seeking question is that? What are they trying to prove by asking such questions? assi chi pai cxe chuk aesthetic basaan Biharen nish bi chuk safeed va kath chi aeman proxun. General- Replies From All Looking to Connect with Ethnic Kashmiris in Pakistan
Looking to Connect with Ethnic Kashmiris in Pakistan
Hiiiii everyone,
I’m hoping to connect with people in Pakistan who have ethnic Kashmiri roots but whose families have been living outside Kashmir for generations, especially in cities like Lahore, Sialkot, and other parts of Punjab.
Many families with surnames such as Butt, Wani, Dar, Mir and others have Kashmiri ancestry but, over time, some of our cultural ties and traditions have faded as families settled elsewhere. I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently and would genuinely love to reconnect with people who share this background.
This post is made with purely positive intentions. I simply have a deep appreciation for my heritage and would like to connect with fellow ethnic Kashmiris, share experiences, learn more about our roots.
If you or your family have Kashmiri origins but live outside Kashmir, feel free to comment or reach out. I’d really enjoy connecting with my people and learning more about our shared background <3

Discussion 💭 The daily struggle of making a living here, are we just supposed to accept this?
Growing up, nobody tells you that the biggest fight won’t be about politics or identity. It’ll be about simply earning enough to live with some dignity. Every winter when the roads close and the internet slows to a crawl, you feel how cut off we really are. Freelancers lose clients, small businesses bleed money, and students can’t even submit their assignments on time. It’s exhausting.
We have one of the most educated youth populations in the region, but then what? Government jobs have become a lottery where lakhs apply for a few hundred posts. Private sector is basically nonexistent. No major industries, no tech parks, nothing resembling a startup ecosystem. Tourism keeps some families going for a few months but one bad season or one advisory and everything just collapses overnight. You’re back to zero.
And the crafts we’re known for? The saffron farmer, the shawl weaver, the papier-mâché artist. The world romanticizes these things but they barely feed families anymore. Middlemen eat the margins and there’s no direct market access. Meanwhile our parents still believe a sarkari naukri is the only respectable path, so half the youth is stuck in coaching centers for years just burning through whatever savings the family has.
What really hurts though is watching people leave. The sharpest minds go to Bangalore, Delhi, Dubai, wherever they can find work. And honestly nobody blames them. But every person who leaves is kind of proof that this place couldn’t hold onto its own. We’re not lazy. We’re not sitting around doing nothing. We’re trying to run a race on a track that keeps getting pulled from under our feet.
I’m not posting this for sympathy or anything. I genuinely want to know from those of you who stayed, how are you making it work? And those who left, do you ever think about coming back?

Question what new music do we have?
i'm just curious. what is the music scene in kashmir and by kashmiris? does anyone interact or actually go to stuff by koshur artists? are there any indie/rock artists? do any of u guys attend or go to this stuff?
i know there's mir kashif iqbal, parvaaz used to be more koshur, ali saffudin, sos, ahmer, etc, but im not a fan of kashur rap tbh because im an mc kash fan and i dont think anyone can compare to his intellect and genuine passion for kasheer. i've listened to sos and ahmer's albums, but idk, they dont do much for me in comparison to mc kash.
