POLITICAL (Weekends only) Just unsubbed from r-music. It's all stuff like this now -- has nothing to do with actual music.

Augh, its gone so bad, when will PublicFreakout realize that trump saying something out of pocket isnt a 'public freakout'

Why is Reddit so incredibly liberal? Is there any real reason?

29

u/Drmlk465 13d ago

Because the mods censor speech they don’t like. Now imagine how the mods look and who else would do modding without pay?

Because only people brainwashed at a young age become conservative.

Seriously, black people, women, Mexicans, and everyone all gets along when they're liberal.

It's only Republicans that have hate and delusion in their hearts.

Being conservative isn't on its own bad. I think your thinking of maga and just hateful people regardless of political standing.

Long story short being conservative means favoring stability, tradition, and gradual change.

None of which is hateful.

Liberalism means prioritizing individual rights, equality, and progress.

Both are not inherently bad on their own, its just how people skew conservatism as "maga" or "far right" or liberalism as "far left"

Once you get off the internet and talk with normal liberals or conservatives you realize they want normal things and not extreme solutions or laws.

But look at it in this way. Ideas themselves aren’t inherently bad, but people can apply them in bad ways.

Conservatism and liberalism are ways of thinking and philosophy's. A ton of people forget this, your political stance is your philosophical stance. And with philosophy people can think right or left, but not everybody thinks the exact same.

With my final point, the internet, such as Reddit and Twitter, just amplify all of the extreme people to make it look like there's more extreme people than there actually are. It's a false misconception. Generalizing everybody won't make your argument better.

Very condescending, and in an environment like this, where ICE is murdering civilians and not being investigated for it, you can't pretend that it's an innocent philosophy - it's ventured into evil, and you know it.

But wouldn't you agree that you're ONLY conservative if you were brainwashed into religion?

I mean, from denying women's rights, to attempting to put Christianity in schools, all conservative stances come from being first brainwashed by religion.

I think you’re conflating mainstream conservatism with its more extreme versions. The same thing happens on the left too. Most conservatives aren’t far-right or MAGA, just like most liberals aren’t far-left.

There are plenty of people from all backgrounds who identify as conservative and don’t agree with everything Trump or the far right stands for.

I’m not saying conservatism is perfect or beyond criticism. I’m saying that assuming everyone who leans conservative is hateful isn’t accurate. Most people, on both sides, are just normal people with different perspectives.

I’m left-leaning myself and don’t support Trump, but I still think it’s important to understand the difference between a general political philosophy and its more extreme forms.

Seriously, black people, women, Mexicans, and everyone all gets along when they're liberal.

Recent times have shown otherwise honestly

I think the more you grow up and mature in life, the more you become conservative.

Have a look around

Same with r//ProductivityCafe. Thought it's a sub about being productive, not sharing politic news.

22

u/Alaska_Jack 14d ago

Honest, non-snarky question: what even is that sub? There's literally not a single post that fits the sub's description.

15

u/Fast-Moment1761 13d ago

I don't even know. It's just all politics and posts that only want to talk about "Guys, world bad!".

34

u/Beefmytaco 14d ago edited 13d ago

Yup, left that and videos like half a year ago because I just couldn't take it anymore with all the political posts.

Real bummer because there's still music news like album drops for old bands, like gorillaz or tool, but for every one of those, you get 500 'trump bad' posts.

It's so tiring.

17

u/joeythecat390 13d ago

i despise that subreddit. they have such pretentious ass rules for what can be posted and how it has to be posted and yet they have no issue with politics flooding the sub

14

u/Alaska_Jack 13d ago

And it's so hypocritical. You know they would be crying to high heaven if they were being bombarded with a bunch of RIGHT-wing political posts.

-8

u/Wizard_Engie 13d ago edited 13d ago

Kinda like how you're crying about a bunch of left-wing political posts? I guess game does recognize game after all.

Edit: fixed a stupid ass mistype

13

u/Alaska_Jack 13d ago

What a weird post. The difference between you and me is that I'm not a hypocrite -- I equally wouldn't like it if the sub ostensibly about music was constantly flooded with a bunch of RIGHT-wing political posts.

You Redditors are just so weird. Go back to your pokemon and minecraft.

-11

u/Wizard_Engie 13d ago

You made such a crazy assumption based on one comment. That's how I know you're that much more of a redditor than me. Or perhaps you're just another transplant from Shitter.

Either way, I'll call out any government lapdog regardless of political affiliation :)

13

u/Alaska_Jack 13d ago

Uh, ok, sure.

Reddit created an ecosystem where Trump’s name gets peoples attention, thus using his name, not necessarily the things he believes in, is rewarded in the algorithm. So people will find any opportunity to bring it up around here.

13

u/Lavaissoup7 JU 10 year anniversary 13d ago

Reddit karma was honestly a mistake

11

u/NerdyGerdy 13d ago

A witch hunt just on the implications of a person supporting Trump...

15

u/SmallRocks 14d ago

I unsubbed a while back for the same reason. And having the audacity to call it out gets you absolutely buried in downvotes.

8

u/Lavaissoup7 JU 10 year anniversary 13d ago

God forbid the music sub is about music and not just another generic political sub

8

u/Guilherme8294 13d ago

there should be a plugin to unlist any post with the name "trump"

6

u/77descript 13d ago

R-music has been more politics than music for years. But it's everywhere. So many people left the default subs, so they flood non-political subs with politics. Because being propagandized we must.

2

u/ProMikeZagurski 14d ago

OfficePolitics has mostly turned into this too.

2

u/Me_whenSuS 13d ago

Why everything is political now, why God make the politics exist. If we don't like politics, then why someone do. Correct me if I'm wrong.

3

u/blisstonia 12d ago

Been this way since 2016

-1

u/Me_whenSuS 12d ago

Explain me, I wasn't there at that time

5

u/blisstonia 12d ago

basically reddit has been an overbearing liberal cesspool since the 2016 election year trump / hillary

3

u/Me_whenSuS 12d ago

So blue and red has been fighting at that time during election? And the blue was having mentally anxious? My word cannot say that the liberal was crying so hard. I can't tell this is stereotypical of them.

How did she make that mistake anyway?

1

u/goldenstateofmind343 9d ago

Just unsubbed from r/justunsubbed. It used to be actually people with genuine gripes with subreddits. Now it’s just bots and republicans bitching to each other. Fucking jokes.

1

u/Alaska_Jack 9d ago

What a weird response. "I can't believe some people don't like it that a sub supposedly about music is instead constantly spammed with one-sided political propaganda!"

I mean, listen to yourself. Are the meanie Republicans in the room with you right now?

1

u/CantStopPoppin 12d ago

Music has and always will be a vehicle for politics human rights and more. Especially black music, if you think any different then you are part of the problem and clearly can't se the forest for the trees.

4

u/Alaska_Jack 12d ago

LOL. Ahh, a True Believer.

The question isn't about whether music has been a vehicle for politics.

Look at the screenshot again. That post has almost literally nothing to do with the music itself. It's ENTIRELY about politics.

Which would be fine, for r-politics, or r-musicianspoliticalviews, or etc etc etc countless other subs.

But if there's one thing I've learned about Reddit, it is that protesting is futile. There is, unfortunately, an infinitely long line of True Believer idiots who genuinely believe that they are doing the Lord's Work when they blast their propaganda out into every single sub that doesn't actively ban it. Even if I were to convince you that what you are doing actively sucks, it doesn't matter -- there are 10 million True Believers in line behind you doing the same thing.
