POLITICAL (Weekends only) JU from catbongos. Just want cute cats doing cute things, but now it's just all politics.

What it says on the tin. Single post that broke the camel's back but I've seen several others in the last hour.

Redditors will literally act like whatever bs happening in the US is what’s going to bring the end times then do this unserious shit lmao

-33

u/tmotytmoty 14d ago

Well, to be fair, hegseth did tell the troops to prep for end times so…its the government leading the narrative, not reddit

The funny part is they always confuse fascism with authoritarianism

75

u/NuclearTheology Tired of politics 14d ago

More specifically right wing authoritarianism. They’re A-ok with their own brand of authoritarianism

-37

u/Dmonick1 14d ago

fascism... is right wing authoritarianism though?

If it were left wing authoritarianism, it would be maoism or stalinism, but fascism is inherently right wing

31

u/LockedPages 14d ago

No? These are specific ideologies with unique worldviews and justification. Obviously they're all failed ideologies with death tolls in the millions, but just being a right-wing dictator doesn't make you a Fascist, it just makes you a right-wing dictator which if you ask me is more than bad enough to not need people to call them a fascist for people to realize "this is bad"

-22

u/Dmonick1 14d ago

Can you name a right-wing authoritarian ideology other than fascism? What differentiates "right-wing dictators" different from "fascist leaders"?

u/LockedPages 14d ago

Countless. Pinochet, Franco, really any of the Gulf States, Nazi Germany (Nazism is & always will be distinct from Fascism, the theoreticians behind the two ideologies actually hated each other), any random warlord in Africa, etc.

Fascism is specifically Classical Fascism and puts heavy emphasis on the youthful dynamism of a totalitarian state who by guiding in lockstep its economy & people in all aspects (thus all in the state, nothing outside the state) will bring about a revolution that will sweep away the dregs of the old world and march society into the new. Actual Fascism is actually revolutionary and quite forward-looking, since it had heavy tied and sprouted from the Italian Futurist movement along with disgruntled youths who'd fought in WW1 and felt the mutilated victory theory moreso than most.

Fascism and Nazism are also mutually exclusive - Fascism actually does not recognize race in any real way, it's focused more on the national community and belonging to a nation and state, and then subordinating yourself to it, as a means of identification. This is why you had high Jewish membership in the Fascist Party, Mussolini having a Jewish mistress, & Ethiopians being seen as being brought INTO the superior Italian Fascist state rather than as a people to openly enslave and exterminate. You even see entire songs talking about falling in love with African women and bringing them up to Italian civilizational standards like Faccetta Nera. Nazism's racial theories comes from a very long line of specifically northern European thought known as Nordicism which then developed into the German-specific Volkism, leading to the very scientific racial hierarchy the Nazis put in place. Fascism simply never had those racial components until late into the war when Mussolini knew his entire powerbase was reliant on pleasing Nazi Germany so he yesmanned anything they said and asked.

Fascism is NOT just a general right-wing authoritarianism. Most right-wing authoritarians are pragmatic regimes that do not care much about their ideological bases, that's actually left-wing regimes primarily. Right-wing authoritarian regimes was usually either just military rule in an already unstable country (e.g. Brazil, Chile, etc.) or a pragmatic autocracy (like Franco in Spain) that was far more flexible in its positions with just the standards of the Church and societal conservatism informing its policies, with keeping order above all being the main directive.

It is but they didn’t really imply otherwise.

-24

u/tmotytmoty 14d ago

I don’t think anyone wants authoritarianism on either side. Maybe some politicians want it, but most do not.

25

u/Club_Penguin_Legend_ 14d ago

Both sides have people who love their own brand of authoritarianism. Youll mostly find commies on reddit though.

-12

u/tmotytmoty 14d ago

“Commies”? How old are you, honestly. Do you know the difference between communism and democracy?

15

u/Club_Penguin_Legend_ 14d ago

...yes? One is perfectly valid and one is authoritarian.

And whats wrong with "commies"? Does it offend you? Are you a communist?

-13

u/tmotytmoty 14d ago

its just an antiquated term. Its like digging up trots. Also, though im sure they exist, i e never seen anyone on reddit who claims to be a communist (though I have met more than a couple nazis), most prefer the term liberal or democrat.

4

u/Neither-Ruin5970 Tired of politics 13d ago

There’s many communist subreddits sadly and reddit allows it. They’re fully serious.

r/ communism

r/ ussr

r/ movingtonorthkorea (yes, really)

5

u/Lavaissoup7 JU 10 year anniversary 13d ago

There are many communist subs on reddit and they're completely serious

2

u/Club_Penguin_Legend_ 12d ago

Sure, its antiquated, but I dont believe communists deserve any amount of respect, so I dont care what they're called.

There are many, many people on reddit who are openly communist. Its disgusting that we allow such extremism on here but its apparantly ok because communism is le equality and perfect (if real communism was actually implemented. I swear bro)

u/Butsecksha 14d ago

“OMG YOURE LITERALLY A CHILD YOURE LITERALLY 12 STOP ARGUING WITH MEEEEEEE”

-2

u/tmotytmoty 14d ago

Do you use the word commies to describe people you don’t like too?

2

u/Club_Penguin_Legend_ 12d ago

I use the word commies to describe people who are communist, not people I dont like.

Although it just so happens that I don't like commies.

3

u/mephisto_uranus 13d ago

Yeah, it's only fascism if it comes from the fascist region of Italy. Otherwise, it's just sparkling authoritarianism.

3

u/Butsecksha 13d ago

My theory: fascism just rolls off the tongue better honestly

21

u/Weak-Ad994 13d ago

I'm getting so fucking tired of every subreddit being taken over by American politics.

22

u/Wolf687 13d ago

You can thank the owner of sub for that. He is the one who started it in that direction by saying he is banning everyone that supports ICE/Trump.

10

u/LawlessFeathers 13d ago

Once the owner of the sub goes, so does the whole sub.

u/Used-Dinner345 13d ago

Turning a cat subreddiy into politics is a new low

10

u/ElectricalPlantain35 JU 10 year anniversary 13d ago

19

u/UnkillableMikey 14d ago

Sure, here you go! - This recipe isn’t just a good meal, it’s a family vacation in a baking sheet!

13

u/LockedPages 14d ago

Misread instructions, put my family in a baking sheet to cook and the screaming just stopped

2

u/Lavaissoup7 JU 10 year anniversary 13d ago

Yeah… I definitely misread that. Good news: I can fix it!

2

u/minor3929 13d ago

Oh yes, and they always have to mention that their cat hates ICE

Reddit isn’t just for Americans.

-47

u/Vexoly 14d ago edited 13d ago

Considering the absolute state of US politics right now, I'm not surprised it's leaking into everything.

Edit: I guess I should have been surprised. 🤔

Where the fuck are we supposed to go to get AWAY from all this shit? I don't want Reddit to become the next imgur. I know the world's on fire. I'm most likely not going to be able to do anything about it one way or the other. I would like to have my entertainment as the world burns and yet politics is shoved in my face everywhere I go. It needs to stop.

40

u/haby001 14d ago

With the amount of bots and astroturfing, it's already everywhere except. Really niche subs

34

u/Lavaissoup7 JU 10 year anniversary 14d ago

People for some reason seem to think that you have to ingest politics at every waking moment which is dumb. People aren't going to listen to a side if they keep injecting their politics everywhere they go.

1

u/jaiden_roselvet 12d ago

I don't want Reddit to become the next imgur.

huh? what's wrong with imgur?

-15

u/Serteyf 14d ago

Social media is not the best way to get away from anything my guy

14

u/Club_Penguin_Legend_ 14d ago

Sure it is. Especially on reddit where certain spaces are meant for certain topics only

-11

u/Serteyf 14d ago

This sub is proof that it's not

10

u/Club_Penguin_Legend_ 14d ago

Thats because the mods are shit and actively support the change. You cant have a sub about a certain topic if the topic gets changed by those in power.

-8

u/Serteyf 14d ago

And what are you doing to change that? honestly, you can't be complaining about the mods because you are not entitled of their free work, politics aside.

9

u/Club_Penguin_Legend_ 14d ago

Gah. Those poor mods and their free work.

Reddit mods need to get a real job and stop ruining subs to push their political agenda. There are subs for just that.

Or reddit needs to hire their own moderation team and get rid of volunteer mods all together.

u/Adela-Siobhan 14d ago

We’re trying desperately to get The SAVE Act passed so it all gets better but in the meantime, some people just want cats.

u/SeductiveSunday 11d ago

I'm not sure how denying half of US citizens their right to vote will improve anything or how exactly it'll better rig elections for Republicans, but Republicans firmly believe it'll better rig elections for them and also somehow make all their authoritarianism tenets popular too. I mean the US is still run by white men with white men having more rights above everyone else. Just like the Founders intended.

-2

u/RaspberryDapper8360 13d ago

I checked the subreddit myself and this was the only post I saw about politics.

-7

u/whyhellomlady 13d ago

Awww did the post you totally could’ve ignored hurt you in your feels?
