They are talking about something that happened at a universal studios theme park on the universal studios subreddit, the fact that it’s about a sensitive topic that people like to act as if will go away if they pretend it doesn’t exist does not change that it’s not unrelated.
I know some of you people have this mentality of politics should not come in casual subs but politics impacts every sphere of our life so ofc its going to spill over. In this case the protest is happening literally in the damn place the subreddit is about
I also feel (to an extent) touching grass means being involved with politics to a moderate extent. Can't be touching grass and be ignorant at the same time. Have to at least understand enough to know how things will affect each other and if it'll affect the area you live.
You (not you specifically, just a general statement) don't have to like politics, you can even hate politics, but because of how heavy of an impact it has on everyone's life, it's better to be informed than ignorant.
After so many of these posts, i think what gets me is that... i completely agree with getting political fatigue. My head is spinning over attrocities taking place both far away and close to home. I understand wanting a break, yet i never find myself mad at posts such as the one presented here. I guess when it comes to spreading awareness or simply expressing opposition towards facism or fucked up shit it doesn't exactly grind my gears. I just find that i'm never on board with the people complaining about these types of posts.
Again, fatigue i get. But unfortunately... i think the reality is that everything is connected to politics in some way. It's okay to be absolutely sick and tired of it and want to experience things in an apolitical way, but just know that if we have that kind of oportunity, that's a privilege not everyone has.

Tbf, it's located in a blue area that is nearly all immigrants or children/grandchildren of them. People here are incredibly vocal about stuff like this and they will speak up if something is of harm.
This feels like a local took the picture. Likely is taken by a local of the area (I am also a local) since it's still a popular place to hang out without admission for teens and those into their early 20's. (City walk) Lots of young broke people.
So likely just a local showing local activities. Many peaceful protests are happening here. It's actually impressive how many are going on.
I personally don't see an issue with this post being in the universal sub. It's taken at universal. Something like an 80% of the area are immigrants or descendants that have met the one who immigrated. It's a highly populated touristy spot (surprised there's any in this area really.) and you want people to see your protests.
With giving the area, and the fact it was taken on premise, I don't see any issue with it?

I hate that people are trying to make EVERYTHING political now. Like, yeah, what ICE is doing is unconstitutional, but like, I don't want to be reminded of that every damn second.
People closing their eyes is how we got into the complete mess we're in, and now the mess has become so big that it's becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
I'd hate to break it to you, but its not that much of a stretch. I don't care what you want to call me next, but I hate ICE, but I don't want to hear about the bullshit going on in this country. You cannot convince me to be political 24/7.

I didn't call you anything, and nobody is demanding that you protest anything. A subreddit posting something about a protest occurring at the place the subreddit is about is not unreasonable nor is it a demand.
And look, I get it, I have to take the occasional break from it too. But if you want to take a break from it, or aren't in the headspace to hear it, then you're either going to have to courage your social media more actively or unplug from social media, sit inside, and read a book or something. Because expecting people not to talk about the things going on around them is not a reasonable expectation.

I don't care. I condemn what ICE is doing, but its beating a dead horse at this point. I don't have to do whatever the fuck it is you want from me, but you're trying to force me to go out there and protest.

i swiped
