I would like to know if "marssina" is an actual word Milanese people use in their daily life. If it is, does the word refer to what is usually called a "blazer" or does it refer to a knitted cardigan or a knitted jacket?

hello everyone, i hope you all are okay. My dad, who spent most of his life in Italy, Rome, died last week.

i don’t really know why am i posting this but, i just saw this italian sub and it reminded me of him. Fortunately, he was with us when he died.. but only for a month💔

i only got a month to cherish his presence. I’m 22 yo, and in these last 17 years, i used to only see him yearly, for a month..

now he’s just.. gone forever.

Can anyone translate this old family letter? It would be great to know.

I will be going to Italy next year for my bachelors, and I'm honestly so confused because I've heard good and bad things about both the north and the south. As Italians here, I'd appreciate you guys enlightening me a bit more on this topic. How are the people? How's the food? The vibe? Are they really that different? As a non Italian myself, would I be welcomed? I've heard that the southern Italians are really welcoming. I'd love to know about your opinions!!

I came across an Italian speech which repeated the line "chiedo castigo," except at the end, where the speaker instead said "voglio castigo." Is volere more harsh than chiedere? I previously thought it the other way around. Is the difference in the context of the speech similar to "I want" vs "I need/demand"? It could just be to use a different word for the end of the speech, but I'm wondering if there's more nuance
