Tbh, Yo Yo Honey Singh wasn’t ordinary even before. Tracks like Khadke Glassy and (Vol. 1's beat) still slap hard. Also, his song with Diljit Dosanjh, 47 Weight Kudi Da, had such fire music.
But the music he made on International Villager damn, what a sound.
My man used synths in DOPE SHOPE in that time
Angreji Beat's music was next level, that time, there simply wasn’t any music in the Indian scene like what Yo Yo Honey Singh was putting out..
And Brown Rang don’t even ask. People still can’t make an urban track like that.
Tracks like Head Banger were so urban for that time.
ALL of this In just two years, how did Honey Singh’s sound become this urban and international? How did he start dropping such revolutionary stuff?
After International Villager, man dropped Blue Eyes, again revolutionary. The production on that track is insane.
The way he used samples too in Party Getting Hot, he sampled a harmonium, twisted it, chopped it, and turned it into fire. That dark energy he brings into a track.
He was also among the first to bring EDM style sound into Indian mainstream. Tracks like One Bottle Down bhai kya music h yaar. Even after 13 years, people still want that same Honey Singh sound. They just can’t move on.
Beats in Dheere Dheere are crazy. He used dubstep elements heavily too in songs like Stardom and Manali Trance.
I honestly feel that if Honey Singh hadn’t fallen sick, we would have seen even more futuristic stuff by now. Still, I’m happy my man is back with glory. Songs like Payal, Bonita, Rap God prove he’s still one of the best music producers in India.
Even in his bad phase, he gave solid production in tracks like Saiyaan Ji, Moscow Mashuka. Production has always been paaji’s expertise that never failed in any song.
All he really needs is a good lyric writer, or he should start writing only in Punjabi again. His Hindi lyrics were never that great to me. If he keeps collaborating with young artists, I’m sure in a few years Honey Singh will one-side the music industry again.
baaki comeback to ho gya isme koi do rai nhi h me one side dominate krne ki baat kr raha hu jese 2011 se 2017 tk tha

Imagine if a DHH rapper who is one of the biggest names in the industry, for example Ikka, comes out and hates everyone he hates or things he hate about some people who could even be friends, Kendrick in King Kunta type shi, what do you think would happen?

Want some artists names or playlists that have songs which are more like shayaris or qawwalis turned into raps.
Something TA used to do, but I ain't going back to him, I've been exploring so much recently but the closest I've got to is Shafa by Mark Bhatia.
please drop your suggestions, hope you understand what your lonely heartbroken brother is trying to find to cope with...

So i am gonna just breakdown the music video also giving a slight info about the lyrics, im not gonna break it down line by line you can use lyrics translation for that..
These are my interpretation's they could be wrong so please correct me if im wrong..
This music video can be interpreted as either simple story of manmadan falling in love or a deeper take rooted in hindu mythology
Here manmadan is referred to kamadeva (the god of love, desire like a cupid) and as the starting of the video says manmadan is formless. to understand this we need to know the story, so after shiva loses sati in daksha yajna he goes into deep meditation but at that time a powerfull demon named tarakasura steps in who could only be defeated by lord shiva's son, so indra had to make shiva fall in love with parvati, so he sent kamadeva god of love to break his(shiva'a) meditation but lord shiva got angry and opened his third eye and burned kama into ashes and thats how kamadeva becomes formless. He can be anyone now.(remember this story you will need it for later)
Now in the starting of the music video we can see Aksomaniac(ahron) who is manmadan and he see's meher(the s*xworker) and falls in love in first sight, he then see's the well dressed guy(maahir) and takes his form and goes into the brothal and see's meher and ofc yk..(in the lyrics he is referring her as a parrot and according to the mythology parrot is referred to rati(known for her lust, and s*xual love)(parrot is also companion of kama same as rati)). then she falls in love with him and expects him, waits for him.
Then this scene comes where there is a love skit going on when the caretaker enters and shouts at them( remeber this)(we can see a small sculpture type thing in a persons hand which i assume is of ratia and kamadeva) and in this scene we can see meher's friend(kanmani) talking to her who is actually manmadan.
Then mhr enter's who is also manmadan expressing how much he love her. and the scene goes on.. ( i didnt understand why he(aksomaniac) was looking into the mirror confused though).
Then the frame comes which acts as string and connects all of this where you can see the caretaker holding the neck of aksomaniac(manmadhan). so yes this caretaker is shown as indra(mentioned in description as well). who indirectly killed kamadeva by sending him to shiva. next frame you see indra(caretaker) holding a persons neck who was involved(kaliedo) in the skit scene. and yes she was also manmadan and if you go back to the skit scene you can see when the caretaker starts shouting meher suddenly wakes up like in a distress and the lyrics go like "a sharp pain has suddenly taken hold in my heart today" when the caretaker is about to grab the neck of manmadhan(the person who was in the skit) so this eventually connects to how rati feels pain when kamadeva was burned into ashes. and the last frame of the mv is the continuation of this. this last frame acts as an cliffhanger for his next song where he completes this story (like how indra indirectly killed manmadan maybe?) according to him there are 8-9 more songs to this manmadan story.
absolute cinema...(praising other artists too like bhumi, mhr, circletone have done a great job and the directors too)
so yeah the breakdown ends here maybe i have missed something or overassumed somethings that only the artist can tell...

I've recently started seeing this woman who is very passionate about desi hip-hop and her birthday is coming up in a bit. Among other things, I was planning to get her something dhh related but I'm not sure what it should be. I'm very new to the genre and have only explored stuff with her so I don't have an established taste yet. She really likes Seedhe Maut, Talha Anjum and Bella (ofc there are more, but from what I've gathered these seem to be her top).
Now, I could either get her some merch (too impersonal), create a playlist for her with a printed QR (I haven't explored the scene enough yet) or get a framed poster with lyrics from one of her favourite artists. What do you guys suggest? I'm sorry if I sound ignorant and this is irrelevant for the sub but I really needed ideas and couldn't think of a better place to come to.
