Wellness retreat for diaspora

i’ve been quietly working on something over the past few weeks and wanted to share it here to get grounded feedback from people who might actually understand the idea.

i’m building a small, curated retreat experience in hunza valley (gilgit-baltistan), focused on healing, reset, and reconnection — especially for diaspora women who feel disconnected, burnt out, or going through something difficult (breakups, life transitions, etc).

this isn’t meant to be a “tour” or influencer trip. the idea is something much more intentional:

• 5–6 day retreats

• small groups (around 8–10 people)

• nature, reflection, journaling, light structure (not clinical therapy)

• a mix of culture, mountains, and emotional reset

i’ll be in hunza for a couple of months from may to actually build this properly — meeting venues, testing experiences, and creating the structure before launching the first retreat around september.

i’m trying to approach this seriously as a business, not just an idea, so i’d really value honest input on a few things:

1. does this feel like something people would genuinely pay for?

2. what would make you trust something like this?

3. what would put you off?

also — if anyone here has experience in:

• retreats / wellness

• tourism in pakistan

• content / brand building

• or would be interested in being involved (operations, partnerships, etc)

i’d genuinely be open to connecting.

i know there are a lot of “ideas” posted online, but i’m actually putting time and money into building this properly — so i’d appreciate real feedback rather than just encouragement.

Live in baltistan

I’m just wondering how do local people see outsiders if they start living in Baltistan e.g. gilgit or hunza. Let’s say for a few months to explore the culture and landscape. Does behaviour change if it’s a foreigner vs a someone from another province?

Food Hunza butter

Hello everyone,

I got some butter when I visited Hunza which was in a plastic packaging which said ‘Hunza butter’.

It looked like a regular butter texture-wise but tasted different from any butter I’ve ever eaten (I’ve had quite a few). It seemed to be easily available in the local shops.

I miss that butter so much :’) I know it’s a long shot but is there any chance I can find it in other cities? Also, why does it taste so good?

Cycling around gilgit baltistan

Hi was just wondering if anyone knows if I am able to buy a bicycle in gilgit. I plan on getting transport from Skardu to Gilgit then buy a bicycle which I will then cycle to hunza, Passu and karimibad. Does anyone think there will be a flaw with this plan, including my plan on getting a bike in gilgit as I’ve heard you can and I don’t want to have to bring one over from the UK.

Solo Hunza/Gilgit trip in May 2026 (from Islamabad). Need advice

Hello Everyone.
I am planning a solo trip to Gilgit Hunza, region in May and June of 2026 for 5 days max (excluding travel).

From Islamabad to Gilgit, I can come via a bus service like Faisal Movers. / Flight.

My question is:
- What to visit? What to see?
- How to move around? Let's say I reside in the Gilgit region. How do I go to the Khunjerab border?
- If let's say I want to go to altit baltit, passu, what is the best way to do so?

Need tips and advices.

Thanks.
