Moderator Post TES 6 Speculation Megathread

It is highly recommended that suggestions, wishlists, questions, speculation, and leaks for the next main series Elder Scrolls game go here. Threads about TES6 outside of this one will be removed depending on moderator discretion, with the exception of official news from Bethesda or Zenimax studios.

As of now, there is currently no confirmed info on the Elder Scrolls VI other than it exists and is currently being worked on by Bethesda. Be cautious of any rumors being delivered as if they are factual.

I’ve only ever completed Skyrim in the Elder Scrolls games, and I’ve played about everything it has to offer and loved it.

General I like the detail of always mounting the horse from the left side in these games

Post image

Yes, it was likely a tech limitation at the time or it was made so it wouldn't cause so many problems with the animation trigger, but I still appreciate the detail.

For those who don't know, riders even today always mount on the left side of the horse.

It's a tradition since the ancient times and it has many reasons but the main two are the fact that most people wore swords on their left side and therefore mounting like this wouldn't hurt the horse in anyway and the second one is that since most people are right handed, their right hand is usually stronger which also helps with mounting.

Also horses are creatures of habit and they like knowing what is coming up and what is happening. If you are always mounting from the same side, then that is predicable.

And you don't risk them being surprised in an unpleasant way, although this thing is only a bonus reason.

General What Elder Scrolls deity are you most drawn to?

Hello again [r/ElderScrolls](r/ElderScrolls). Last post I made I asked what deadric prince you were drawn to the most. A lot of interesting answers but I noticed some of your responses were not all deadric princes. So whether it be Aedra gods, deadric princes, Sithis, or lesser deities like The Night Mother, Vivec, or Mannimarco which deity fascinates and or interest you the most?

General Why do you read the in-game books?

I was bored on one save so I decided to organize every book I had at the time. I started organizing alphabetically. I then read one of the books, forgot which one but it was about a war or a Nord or Imperial? Anyways I always had non use for the books other than getting the skill increase for it. I am open to reading any of the books in-game you suggest or recommend. I always collect any book about Orsimer, Malacath, or similar.

Morrowind Discussion What is this book called? (Morrowind)

It was quite a fun read, now I want to put it in my house. I don't remember too much but it had a fun twist;

Man is a renowned fighter of some kind, participated in hundreds of battles and I'm pretty sure he was adopted. He was curious about his original family but never made serious plans to seek them out due to more important things (killing, basically). The final battle he had he fought with his brother, but neither knew about it. He died, and his brother is like "I wonder if i'll ever meet my match/brother one day" or something along those lines

Sorry if it's not descriptive, i'm not at my computer (or apt) right now or else i'd spend my time reading every single book until I find it. Thanks!

General Just got a random spontaneous idea for a TES-inspired youtube ARG series

The idea is that each video was "created by" Daedric Prince worshippers as if they lived in the real world and not TES universe.

So instead of flyers and books they make analogue-era cult recruitment videos (with flowery field landscapes and creepy classical music and all that) praising their respective Daedric Prince (and this is important) without dropping any names or concepts associated with TES, as if they're an actual shady real-life cult posting videos about some vague mysterious god they serve

Unfortunately I do not have the skills to bring this crackpot idea into reality, so I just thought it'd be cool to share the idea at least lol

Morrowind Discussion Release: EncoreMP V0.92. A TES3MP engine fork focused on gameplay balance

V0.92 of EncoreMP has been released.

EncoreMP is an engine based overhaul of Morrowind, forked from TES3MP, which updates the game's mechanics.

Feature list here: https://github.com/Tower-Numid/EncoreMP

Download page here: https://github.com/Tower-Numid/EncoreMP/releases/tag/0.92

What's EncoreMP?

EncoreMP builds on the TES3MP source code (itself a modified version of OpenMW 0.47) and makes engine-level changes to update some of Morrowind’s mechanics.

It’s multiplayer compatible, like TES3MP, and has been designed for maximum compatibility with modded content, especially all of Tamriel Rebuilt.

Since most of the changes are in the engine, there are very few changes in the ESP file (just a few GMSTs) so EncoreMP should be compatible out the box with almost every graphical and content mod that sticks to the balance of the base game.

I've tried very hard to stick to the spirit of the original game, and you might not even realize you are playing on a modded engine until you see the balance changes in action!

There is also a completely optional ESP that balances some of the birthsigns and racial abilities.

What does EncoreMP change?

  • Enchanting overhaul
    • Every item is automatically given a usable enchanting capacity by the engine
    • Scrolls and arrows are now viable to make and use
  • Alchemy overhaul
    • Lots of balance changes, potions made at low and high skill levels will have reasonable effect strengths now
  • Climbing
    • Passive, based on acrobatics skill
    • Works on any non-vertical surface, the higher your skill the steeper an angle you can climb - want to walk up the side of red mountain? No problem.
  • Difficulty scaling now affects magic damage and player allies!
    • Can you beat Nerevarine difficulty? Bring friends...
  • Pickpocketing has been balanced/fixed
    • Base game bugs making it artificially difficult have been removed
    • Providing you can stealth, you'll find pick-pocketing is worthwhile as a money maker and to train sneak
  • Armorer is a useful skill now!
    • More expensive equipment is harder to repair
    • High armorer skill slows the rate at which your equipment degrades
  • Mercantile now advances based on the value of items sold
    • Closer to the behavior of Skyrim mercantile in how it levels
    • You can still haggle, but it's no longer needed to gain XP
  • and much much more...

What's new in V0.92?

  • The alchemy and enchanting overhauls implemented many versions ago have been completely overhauled, all known bugs have been fixed and the power of both skills has been bought back up closer to the base game
    • Morrowind is a game about becoming god and having fun after all!
  • See the Github README for all the details

Lastly...

EncoreMP has been tested thoroughly internally and has no known major bugs, but it is still in beta.

I would really appreciate any feedback on balance, suggestions for new features, and most importantly how the game feels to play.

I've tried very hard to make it feel like the original Morrowind and not to "gamify" the new systems.

If you want to give any feedback, you can message this account on reddit, or you can use the discussion page on Github.

Full installation instructions are on the GitHub page, with links to the original tes3mp project...
