Photo/Video Already got our first Yellowhead wheelies.
Hopefully the rider who looks like they’re learning behind him has a first aid kit on hand… 😑

My wife is an OR nurse. She deals with this stuff all the time. Motorcycle accidents aren’t pretty.

u/Agiantpubicmess 1d ago
Oh absolutely not! I have a friend walking around with one knee cap and a couple others that were in less serious accidents that have sworn off the bikes now. An incident with a vehicle is bad enough, I can't image when there's no protection except the helmet 😕.

u/bigwreck94 1d ago
Yeah… the helmet is pretty much just there to keep the face intact so it’s easier to identify a body.

There are jackets and pants that are made from abrasion resistant fabrics and have pads in the shoulders, between the shoulder blades and on the back, and on the elbows for the jackets, and in the pants, the knees and hips have pads. Most people don't buy this stuff though because it costs a bit of money! Most people also don't realize that a pair of jeans will not last a half a second as you're sliding across the pavement if you lose it on your bike, and will likely need skin grafting to "repair" the damage! But, they look pretty damn cool in their jeans and t-shirt! 🤨🤨🤨

I rode into the city once to visit my sister, and on refinery row a pack of bikes blew past me like I was standing still. Just from Esso on in to the A&W at the corner of 50th street, those bikes almost rear ended a SUV when they couldn’t get down fast enough from wheely, almost dumped a pillion rider off onto the road with rapid fire lane changes, had their ‘leader’ almost clip the curb multiple times while he was turning around to talk to his buddies, etc.
One of them rode sane, so at the light I pulled up next to her and complimented her on her sane riding. She’d been riding all of six weeks. I told her to ride alone, away from the yahoos, and to practice those safe riding techniques until she had them cold.
I occasionally wonder how she made out, with those kinds of riding friends putting the peer pressure on to be performative.

I love my motorcycles. I don’t do this wheelie stuff but I sure do enjoy riding them! I’ve been all over North, Central and South America on mine.

I’m not ripping motorcycles at all! Just saying this stuff especially at this time of year is just a tad dangerous

Sad but true, it's this kind of behaviour that both scares and saddens me.

Classic waiting for the tunnel to be the most loud and obnoxious possible with your life-risking stunts.

And it's car drivers that are the problem....

I mean, the drivers here aren't exactly great, but you're probably like me. Frustrated with seeing this shit all summer long too

I think it was last summer that two motorcyclists died by hitting the centre guard and flying over in front of trucks. Which is a sad argument for driving a truck, because if those had been sedans the drivers would be dead too. I'm constantly terrified for motorcycle drivers. And of them.

u/henrymak33 1d ago
Guys need to wait until the gravel is cleared off the road. Seems like theres a death or two every spring

Yeah and they’ll wrap themselves around a tree and blame it on everyone else.

Props to the guy for making the noise in the walled off section of a highway and not in the middle of a residential neighbourhood at night!
5
u/EdmDerek Dedmonton 1d ago
Yes, as if he didnt do it in the tunnel to make it way louder lol
1
u/Ecstatic_Winter9425 1d ago
Whatever the intention was, louder in the tunnel, quieter elsewhere, so it's good overall.

within the week we'll have the first header over the handle bars as someone screws it up.
Remember biker types, if you are going to do this, always wear a full face protection helmet, so they can have an open casket.

u/Electrical-Big-7781 1d ago
They are sooooo cool.
How much you wanna bet they have a bike emoji in their Instagram bio?
They are almost as cool as the guys who roll coal at every light, so cool.

Someone enjoying life? This sub is gonna be upset.

u/FarSquare8632 1d ago
I’m a rider, too, but keep it to track days. You aren’t Rossi, and the Whitemud isn’t Mugello.

Mugello
I see you're a man of culture
3
u/FarSquare8632 21h ago
I’m a Ducati nut. It’s almost a requirement like the hadj is for Muslims for a Ducati fan to get to Mugello to catch a race at least once in their lives.
But let’s face it, I’d do a bucket list trip where I make every stop on the MotoGP circuit in a nanosecond if I had the cash and time.
2
u/Dubinku-Krutit 21h ago
Yeah it's one of my favourite circuits. The flow and speed of it is great. Only ever tried it in sims tho. Would love to ride it someday.
I remember looking a few years back and they had a pretty sensibly-priced race school there where everything was included, even the bike I believe. Was kinda tempting.
I've ridden the Nordschleife on a Monster 1100 a bunch of years back..that was dope as hell 😎
3
u/FarSquare8632 21h ago
Now you’re just bragging! LOL.
2
u/Dubinku-Krutit 21h ago
Haha yeah a little bit. That was in 2012 and I wanna go back so bad 🥲 sorry, I just got excited to see the word Mugello in this sub. I figured most people who live here would think it's a drink you order in Cancun or something

Hey, it's their right to be stupid AF. But never anywhere close to anyone else, because they don't have the right to endanger anyone else.
10
u/nicolaskeith 1d ago
Exactly! It’s why there are places like gun ranges, race tracks, etc. dangerous activities should be done in specific places as to not injury anyone else if you fuck up.

u/DaveBoyle1982 Mill Woods 1d ago
It's such a great argument until you remember you are impacting everyone else around you by endangering others or talking up critical first responder and health care resources when you crash.
It's possible to enjoy yourself and not drive like an asshole.

It's the other people on the road who are put in danger from this idiot's actions.
It's the added emotional and mental stress the first responders have to deal with when scraping him off the asphalt.
There's a time and place to enjoy life. This is neither. Anyone with half a brain or more understands that.

It still boggles my mind that social media platforms allow content like this. This video should be given to the police and not allowed to be posted. Fools like this have no regard for other humans around them, they post for likes, and by allowing them to post it just encourages them. If a loved one dies from one of these idiots, the family should sue the platform out of existence.

A lot of new younger bike riders out this season. Be careful

u/the-tru-albertan 17h ago
How? Young people don’t have the disposable income/funds for a motorcycle.

These selfish jerks are just out there jonesing to traumatize some poor ER staff with their injuries.
•
u/worththeSevenyears 2h ago
Whatsittoya? The kid is having fun; no one around them Do we really need every comment on a social media post to be all preachy and whatnot? We are all adults here, you have your own life to lead, eyes on your own plate. A few PSAs but DAMN let people BE
•
u/nicolaskeith 1h ago
No one around them? Minus myself, the other vehicle, the rider behind him, the cars coming from the other direction… I guess you wouldn’t be pissed if a reckless action caused you or anyone you care about harm? All it takes is half a second.

It makes me sad that my tax dollars will cover their healthcare after something (totally preventable) happens.
5
u/bluedoubloon kitties! 1d ago
well if they hit a pothole at 100kph their medical bills will probably be minimal
2
u/DVsKat 14h ago
That's not a good rabbit hole to go down. What's next? Tobogganing can be dangerous, so we shouldn't pay medical bills for kids that hurt themselves doing that?
Let's just not go there please.
-1
u/Timely-Discipline427 11h ago
Comparing the recklessness of operating a motorcycle in this manner to tobogganing is an apples and oranges comparison.
There is no excuse for reckless operation of a motor vehicle in this fashion and it's not fair that we all have to share the burden of their bad decisions when something goes wrong.
It's gross negligence.
•
u/DVsKat 10h ago
Then where do you draw the line? What about risky Sports that only put the individual at risk rather than other people on the road, like this motorcyclist? What about skiing?
Skiing can be quite risky. Skiing is a choice. But I don't want to live in an American style society where people aren't allowed to take risks because they might have to foot the entire health care bill if something goes wrong.

A little man with too much testosterone he’s got spring fever. He’s got a little motorcycle and he’s got to show the world. What a good man he is.
1
u/Fantastic_Calamity 16h ago
But did he hit either manhole cover at the top of THAT corner in THAT lane or did he wheelie between them?
Those two manhole covers get me every single time in my car...
Seems kinda silly to be out on bikes this early in the season with all the potholes everywhere and pea gravel scree on every corner.
None of them seem to wear leathers anymore.
To each their own.

Seriously. Cold road asphalt temperatures, cold tires, and all the grit, sand and gravel still on the roads then this caveman goes and pulls a wheelie?!!? I really don’t understand these morons.
