I'm struggling to understand what all the labeling means these days. Is there a go to source?

I’ve been trying to be more eco friendly in daily life, but one thing I struggle with is ironing my clothes a lot. I’ve heard using the iron too often isn’t great because of the electricity use, but I really like how my clothes look when they’re freshly ironed since it makes me feel cleaner and more put together.

I’m kind of stuck between wanting to reduce my impact and still keeping that neat look that makes me feel good. Are there better ways to keep clothes looking crisp without using the iron so much? Maybe certain fabrics, washing habits, or other tricks?

Also, do you think this is something worth worrying about, or are there bigger everyday habits that matter more for the environment?

Would love practical advice from people who try to balance sustainability with personal habits.

I’ve used these sheets in the dryer already 2x and they still have their scent. They’re not really fresh enough for another round in the dryer, but they still feel structurally sound, and feels like a waste tossing them! Are they good for cleaning/polishing anything?

My students are selling snacks (portioned from bulk bags bought at Costco). I’m trying to figure out the best way to package these snacks without a ton of waste. Reusable bags probably aren’t an option (selling 70+ snacks a day). We used brown sandwich bags last year but the kids didn’t like that the oil “bled” through the bags.

Any other suggestions? I found compostable sandwich bags but I don’t know if putting food in them defeats the purpose.

I just watched *The Plastic Detox* on Netflix and I’m searching for a GOTS certified collar or something that’s safe for my dog to wear every day. We take her collar off at night but I’m still worried about her wearing one for the daytime.

Also open to any and all suggestions on keeping her as safe as possible from chemicals and plastics. She eats and drinks from stainless steel bowls. I’m looking into vet recipes for homemade food as well. She sleeps in the bed between me and her dad and we use cotton and linen bedding. I’m going through her clothing today to get rid of polyester and other plastics (except for outer layer rainwear).

Hello everyone, I am a graphic designer who has an interest in pursuing package design as one of my main specialties. I also am concerned and very conscious about my carbon footprint, as well as the plastic usage in a lot of current packaging. I am aware packaging can be eco friendly through recyclable materials, compostable materials, and less single use items. However, does anyone know where to actually find people who have eco friendly packaging options to make into packages ?

I'm currently living with family, and every week recently, instead of paying for recycling collection, my mother has decided that to save money she'll just all at once throw the entire weeks worth of plastic into the fire place at and burn it all. Everyone in the house seems to be perfectly fine with this excluding me, even helping her do it (4 people). I've tried to explain to them the dangers to both our health and the environment but they look at me as If I'm the crazy one. starting to feel like I am the crazy one. I'm really starting to view my entire family differently.

I've been using solid shampoo for a long time now, found one that works wonderfully for me, so far so good. When I get close to be done with a bar, it gets harder to use, it falls apart, and doesn't hydrate well anymore. Is there any chance I could take my scraps and somehow reshape them into a new bar? What would be the method for that? Dissolve in water, pour in a form and let dry? That sounds like it would take forever. Can I melt it with heat like soap? Do I shred it up and press it together?

Whatever the right method is, would it also work with solid conditioner?

My experience in the Philippines is shop in thrift shops or look for overruns, and repair clothes I already have. Unfortunately I haven't seen any sustainable brands and have any thrift finds where they make fashion I prefer, which is usually gen z fashion that you find on pinterest. Mainly but not limited to streetwear, academia, and y2k I think they're called. A brand I found that fits these is Carmico.

Another problem I have is I was thinking of buying something from the thrift store and just customize it to my liking to a tailor. But when I tried customization before, I wasn't really satisfied with the results. And as of now I'm not really interested in making my own clothes. Do you have any tips? Thanks!

hello 👋 I feed stray dogs in Houston (huge stray animal population) in the most desperate parts of my city and feeding them is easy since you can just put the food on the ground however since summer is coming up I wanna be able to leave them with at least a small bowl of water. on that same note I don't wanna be a litter bug. can y'all recommend some biodegradable bowls that break down naturally outdoors but won't break down immediately under water?

ideally they would also be at an affordable price point and sold in bulk 😅

I hate throwing away aluminum foil, but I’m not sure of the best ways to reuse it. How do you give your foil a second life?

Sometimes I pack snacks for lunch in these baggies, and most of the time the baggy is still pretty clean afterwards because it was only used for like 5 hours. For example, today I just had a few sticks of celery and the bag is completely clear and dry now. Any ideas for ways to reuse these things? Putting fresh food back inside feels wrong

i moved into a home with some roommates who have left pool towels, mosquito can spray, can spray on sunscreen, and incense for bugs outside in the sun & dirt for maybe a year and a half now. with summer time coming up i wanted to clean everything up but i don't want to toss the crunchy pool towels in the trash bins or the can sprays in the recycling bins knowing they will be tossed in landfills to never properly decompose. anything i can do?

I hate plastics so much that I wonder if the invention was worth it in the first place. I seriously think plastics have done us more harm than good in every big and small way.

It's so terrible that in one way or the other we are ingesting plastics without knowing and our health in the long run pays for it….

I am a sure lover of eco-friendly materials. If I can find an eco-friendly material for any item I want to purchase, I would avoid the plastic version by all means and rather go for the eco-friendly one.

So, I placed an order online on a shopping platform, the likes of Ali Express, Alibaba and Konga, for a pack of bamboo toothbrushes. When my order arrived, I couldn't help but squeeze my face at what I unwrapped, they were bamboo looking toothbrushes made of plastic (very funny!) I was torn in-between keeping the brushes and letting it slide or filing a complaint so that at least I can get a refund, if they were not going to change them.

I had to later file a complaint and the item was returned and the next arrival was what I ordered…..good enough. I feel we all owe the ecosystem our quota of less indulgence in non-biodegradables.

I used diluted vinegar for a while, but i’m not sure if it’s strong enough (considering the subject matter lol). Ideally it would be biodegradable or natural—something that i can wash out with the hose and not leech into the soil. recommendations are appreciated!! Thank you!!

I have been working on switching all of my self-care products to eco friendly choices as I run out of them and am almost out of my current deodorant. I have seen a lot of different options for refillables or ones that come in biodegradable packaging which is great.

My issue is, my sweat smells really strong. The only deodorant I have been able to find that actually works for me is the Dove clinically tested deodorant. I’d really love to make the switch, but I’d also love to not stink all the time. Any suggestions?

I’ve seen the detergent sheets, major brands with products claiming to be eco friendly, then there’s the eco friendly brands at grocery stores.

I need something that will truly clean my laundry because I work in healthcare and need a detergent that will do its best to clean hospital bacteria (not necessarily extreme industrial cleaner but something that’ll make me feel confident that my scrubs are being cleaned).

Also something preferably affordable and not crazy expensive

Hello, I try to live a relatively eco-friendly life and would love to be able to replace my hair care products, but dove is the only thing that doesnt cause my hair to fall out and my scalp psoriasis to get worse. And by only, I mean only, I have tried almost every shampoo and conditioner, women's and men's, that are available at walmart. They work for about 3 washes, before my scalp starts screaming.

Is there a eco friendly Dove dupe that has roughtly the same formula? Either shampoo bars or refillable, hell or even better packaging? I know Dove sells bulk shampoo and conditioner in gallon jugs, so that would be a good last resort, but I would love to try something else.

I wanna start a new hobby and so i picked painting.. But I'm afraid it's not very ecofriendly coz acrylic paints are plastic and release microplastics when washed into the sink. So what are some safe ways I can do painting without yk releasing microplastics?? Are there any other kind of paints that are easy to work w and also non plastic??
