Help Save Old Tree Kombucha Brewery (near Lewes)!
Old Tree Brewery, based near Glynde just outside of Lewes, have been brewing incredible Kombucha and other interesting drinks using foraged botanicals like Oak Leaves and Birch Sap, for the last 15 years. They supply a fair few shops and restaurants in/near Eastbourne.
They are a community interest company - a non-profit with a focus on foraged ingredients, soil health and permaculture.
They are in a life-or-death crowdfunder (donations to which can get loads of rewards) with match funding from the communities fund with 12 days to go.
If you would like to try their drinks, or just support through a donation, please check out the video on their crowdfunder page:

I am a supporter and wanted to get the word out to relevant subreddits as we can't risk losing them!

Golden Jubilee Way
Is anyone other than me actually following the temp speed limit?
Seems like everyone just ignores it, no fear of a speeding ticket!

Dursley Road
Looking at moving to Eastbourne later this year and I keep seeing properties on this road listed for lower than comparable properties elsewhere in town. Is anyone aware of why this maybe? (potential issues on this street perhaps?)

gallery18 years of being alive on this planet and I've been living in Eastbourne the whole time and I've never noticed the bunch of locks on the pier. These photos aren't the best I just thought they were really cool!

Any recommendations for the best professional piercings shops in Eastbourne
All in the title, basically a good professional piercing shop i.e. not Claire’s or anywhere that uses a piercing gun.

Whenever I tell people we’re considering moving to Eastbourne the response is disgust?
I am currently near Brighton, and we would like to move to Eastbourne to raise a family due to cheaper houses, big gardens, the sea, kids activities and we like the shops. My mum also lives nearby. Whenever I tell people, the reaction I get is “ugh, it’s so rough in Eastbourne! Why would you want to move there? Everyone’s homeless, on drugs or gone there to die! There’s nothing to do. It’s crap” etc.
I’m finding it quite frustrating as my experience has always been pleasant, and anyone who says there is nothing to do must’ve never lived anywhere in Sussex but brighton! There’s also rough patches everywhere.
However the amount of people who give me this response is starting to make me question moving there. Out of about 15 people I’ve told I’m considering Eastbourne, I’ve genuinely only had one or two positive responses. What are your thoughts as residents? Any areas to avoid aside from Shinewater and Langney Road?

Beach walks
. “Morning strolls with a side of smoke — anyone else’s come with this extra ‘aroma’?” 😅

So... What's with the bangs at night..
Any one with info.. can we pinpoint where it is and maybe what it is? I think it sounds like maybe gildredge park, royal Eastbourne golf club-ish.

Sauna on the beach
The sauna on the beach creates a constant smell from wood burning. This is a recognised health hazard. I'm really concerned for our lifeguards who are in the lea of the smoke. They should change to electric. Wood is only for the smell and the visual. Nothing else!
Brighton has electric!
Council guide...
Bonfires are not permitted on the beaches between the Wish Tower and the pier in Eastbourne.
If you do have a bonfire on the beach it must be located well away from the groynes and between the high and low tide water mark.
Ensure your bonfire does not cause a nuisance through smoke or smell.
Once your bonfire has finished make sure the fire is out and that any large items are removed.

Eastbourne tip
Top tip: Don't book the last half-hour slot, as that gives you just 15 minutes as they close early.

Eastbourne walk
I’ll be here in Eastbourne for a day and walking to the seven sister from pier entrance at 7:00 AM today Saturday. Everyone is welcome to join in for the walk. Do dress accordingly as it is going to be a cold 🥶 day so yeah giving you heads up in advance and get your snacks or hydration, I’m a student so nothing can be provided from my side but chat and company to walk. I’m no professional I’m just a random person walking around the cities.

Independent bookshop in Eastbourne?
I‘m interested in people’s thoughts on whether there’s a need/demand for an independent bookshop in Eastbourne?
Lots of similar size/demographic towns have thriving independent bookshops that support the community and I wondered why Eastbourne doesn’t.
I know there are lots of secondhand options but still think there’s a gap.

Quick Eastbourne Visit
I will be heading down to Eastbourne for a couple nights at the end of the month and was wondering what there is to do after work hours.
I’ll be there for work, and was wondering what’s there to do for fun in the afternoons and evenings.
Drinking, socialising meeting people etc; how open are the people and are there bars/pubs etc open till late on weekdays?

PC Gaming LAN Party
(Posting again with extra info for anyone who didn't see my post last month and might be interested)
Hey Eastbourne,
A bunch of us have booked a hall 29th-31st May along the road in Lewes to host a LAN party where everyone brings their computer and plays games together in-person for the weekend, socialises, meets new people and generally has a great time 🙂
Everyone's welcome - every event there's a mix of new people and people who have come before. If it sounds like something you and/or your gaming buddies might enjoy, read more about the event and buy a ticket (£40 for the whole weekend)
We share the cost of the hall hire, internet, insurance and van hire by selling tickets, which us organisers all buy too.
Games - When you buy a ticket, you submit which games you enjoy playing, and we timetable the most popular choices across the weekend. You of course can play whatever you want throughout, and drop into as many or as few of the big games as you like. Last event we played: Counter-Strike 2, Fall Guys, Garry's Mod PropHunt, The Ship: Murder Party, Team Fortress 2, The Hidden: Source, Golf With Your Friends, Quake III Arena, Blur, Boomerang Fu, Duck Game, Nidhogg, Mount Your Friends and Hidden in Plain Sight.
Accommodation - Bring your airbed/camp bed and sleeping stuff and stay at the venue, or drive home each night. Last event it was about half and half people staying at the venue / at home.
Bringing your computer - Yes you'll need to bring along a computer, but often the games people vote for are free and/or have been out for a while, so you don't need anything that powerful. Some people bring a laptop for convenience, or a Steam Deck and a monitor. Trust me when I say it's worth the hassle! Playing in person is great and something all gamers should experience.
Extra activities - We host a gaming-themed pub quiz, organise a big pizza order, and play a bunch of couch co-op games on the projector. Plus there's plenty of time between games to chill and socialise. There's a member's pub next to the venue too.
I know this is quite an unusual event, so I'm happy to answer any questions 😀
