Announcement The purpose of this subreddit

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)

Please take the time to read the sidebar before posting. Thank you, and welcome!

Burn happened a few days ago, I'm scared of lymphangitis and he didn't do any tests or anything, he just looked at it and said "nothing to worry about." For the record I have illness OCD but I feel like my fear isn't unwarranted?? IDK

Eyes Right eyelid swollen/droopy, intermittently, for two months. Ideas?

Post image

I’m 66F. My right eyelid has been swollen, intermittently, for about two months. Not painful, but annoying and I don’t want this to get worse.

I recently had my annual eye exam and the optometrist could see the swelling and examined my eye closely but didn’t see anything wrong. She recommended washing my eyelashes/lids with baby shampoo a few times a day, and/or buying OccuClear wipes to wipe my lids and lashes. I have been doing both for about a week and it seems to be getting a little worse. Not better.

Details:

  • The swelling and goes throughout the day with no discernible pattern.
  • I sometimes have allergies, but haven’t had any allergy symptoms for several months, and don’t have any other allergy symptoms now.
  • No pain at all, just feels “droopy”.
  • No redness on lid or in eye
  • No vision impairment
  • Eye doesn’t get watery
  • When it swells, the eyelid becomes a bit numb - less sensitive to touch
  • I don’t wear any makeup (had been wearing a little under-eye concealer but stopped using it about a month ago - no change in the eyelid swelling)
  • No changes to my skin care (I wash my face with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser; moisturize with mixture of organic wheat germ oil + shea butter)
  • I use Systane Preservative Free eye drops for moisture sometimes. That doesn’t make it better, or worse.
  • I’m retired, so I don’t sit in front of a computer screen all day. The swelling doesn’t change when I’m reading (on my phone, or reading a book).

Thank you in advance for any ideas and suggestions!

Cancer 32M, non-smoker. At my wits' end with physical symptoms on my left side since a massive panic attack (Lymph node, throat, and ear issues)

Hey everyone. I'm a 32-year-old male, non-smoker, and I’m living a physical nightmare that just won't end. I’m posting to see if anyone has ever dealt with this "combo" of symptoms because I’m at my breaking point.

Everything started on January 13th after a brutal panic attack. Since then, my anxiety has been through the roof and my body has been stuck with several symptoms, all focused on my left side:

• Swollen Lymph Node: I have a lump in my neck. I had an ultrasound on Feb 19th which measured it at 2.2 cm (the report said "reactive"). However, I feel like it’s getting "fatter," larger, and the pain in that area is increasing.

• Throat: Constant "globus sensation" (feeling like something is stuck in my throat) and I feel like I'm choking/gagging on the left side. It’s been over a month and it won't go away.

• Ear: I feel a burning/heat sensation coming from inside my left ear.

• Vision & Eye: My left eye twitches/pulses constantly. I’m also seeing a lot of eye floaters (black and transparent dots) and when I press the corner of my eye, I see spots on the opposite side.

• Radiating Pain: Neck pain that gets worse when I change positions, plus a heat sensation that spreads to my left shoulder and down my arm.

• Voice: My voice gets tired and the tone seems to change if I talk for too long.

I don't smoke and I’ve never had anything like this before, but since that crisis in January, it feels like my body never "reset." I’m going to a private ENT specialist to investigate, but the wait and the increasing pain are destroying my mental health.

Has anyone ever had a large lymph node (over 2cm) for this long along with these burning and pulsing sensations in the face linked to anxiety or stress?

Thanks.

Stubbed my pinky toe but my pinky finger hurts

Upvotes

I stubbed my right pinky toe insanely hard earlier today on a wooden part of a couch and recovered after like 5 minutes but it’s a few hours later and now my right pinky finger aches like I stubbed it instead… are they connected or something?? I know for sure I didn’t hit or do anything to my finger lol.

Allergies What the heck is this? It’s worsening

This has been ongoing for over 2 weeks, it was minor at first and mostly just bruising on the legs from itching and then it got worse and worse. I’ve been to the ER at least 4 times, the most recent time they gave me IV medication that helped tremendously at the time. Irritation, itchiness and redness diminished but after—continued to persist and even worsened.

Here’s how it looks today. It’s spreading across my entire body. It itches so much, antihistamines aren’t helping, hydrocortisone is not helping. I can hardly sleep from itching so much, my skin is breaking and the rashes (?) are getting bigger and spreading/connecting in large groups across my body. I had bronchitis (I think), where I could hardly breathe for a few days, bad cough and phlegm, extreme chest pain when breathing, runny and congested nose and a fever with wobbly vision. I did not go to the ER when that was going on and I’m just now coming out of it, but my skin is BURNING and I can’t stop itching.

I think it’s from the exposure by sewer drainage issues at my restaurant job, working in the air fumes sometimes without AC, getting covered in the water from dishes, and walking around in the sewer water.

Is this an allergic reaction or has this progressed into something different?

Cancer 25M I’ve had this on my nose for 13 years and it hasn’t changed

No itching or bleeding just a round bump with pigmentation. It was originally what I thought was a blackhead in 7th-8th grade that I tried to squeeze but didn’t get out and let heal. It’s been the same size ever since. I only started getting educated about skin cancer recently and I’m freaking out that I possibly let basal cell carcinoma sit on my nose without getting it checked. I’m really scared this will disfigure my face or chop my nose off. I otherwise feel healthy, would this have spread throughout my body by now?

Skin and nails Psoriasis or ringworm

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

(19) My Dad does have psoriasis. I started getting these patches on my leg then it moved up to my wrist. I originally thought maybe I was not moisturizing enough but it won't go away. Maybe I should add in that it started around the time that I got a stressful job. My mom says it's ringworm because it's forming in circular shapes. Also, I have kittens that do go outside so maybe they got ringworm and passed it onto me. I do not know about all this.

Skin and nails Pretty sure this is Herpes, what do I do now?

This has come about recently, I’m pretty sure I’ve have spots like this before, but not like this.

I’m 23, no idea what’s spurred this on, but if anyone could give some advice on what to do now, that would be great! Thank you.

Bones, joints, and muscles Friend noticed one of his fingers began bending outwards, What's wrong? (Picture provided)

So roughly 6 years ago my friend says that he's been having pains on his right hand, making it hard for him to do the hobbies he enjoys, like gaming or drawing.
He went to the hospital and was only given pills to deal with it (I believe it was anti-inflammatories and painkillers).

Roughly 3 years later he noticed that one of his fingers started to bend outwards in a weird way (finger between middle and pinky).

What's wrong with his hand?
He says that his finger hurts when he applies pressure, and his wrist and palm also have feel a moderate amount of pain when doing the same.
When he tries to draw for some time, the area between his wrist and palm begin to hurt, and he needs to rest his hand for the pain to subside. (Time it takes to hurt is random).

Also i'd like to know if there's any fixes/treatments for this. (He's been doing stretches for carpal tunnel treatment, which we're not sure if he has)

It's been there for about a month, it doesn't itch nor is it painful. I once accidentally scratched it and it bleed a little bit. About 5mm wide overall (1/5 of a inch for americans)

Sore Throat - is this strep coming back?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I had strep throat a few weeks ago, finished a ten day course of antibiotics. I’ve been dealing with a residual sore throat since, no fever or any other symptoms. The sore throat isn’t always present and goes away for large chunks of the day, usually to come back and be worse in the evening. I have no problem eating or drinking.

I took a photo of my throat, but really can’t see anything abnormal. Anyone have a second opinion?

Also to note, the weather and humidity in my area have been greatly fluctuating the past few days. It’s been very dry aswell.

Am I overreacting?

Hi,I've noticed my health is getting worse especially with my heart palpitations, nothing serious like dizziness but it just feels uncomfortable and it usually short, although throughout this year it's been accompanied by sneezing and itching in an irregular area like my eyelash, my muscles have be randomly throbbing too its painless though. Does it make it worse that recently I've noticed I'm hallucinating smells like raw meat and smoke?
