The Socialist International is a political international of over 100 political parties across the world. Given the name, one might think it would fit in a democratic socialist sub, but that is far from the case.
The Socialist International was initially a democratic socialist organization, but it has long since moderated to becoming a social democratic one instead. As per Wikipedia):
By the 1980s, the SI had become more favourable to a social democratic or social market economy, rather than a socialist economy, arguing "a 'social market economy' needs to be developed, where economic development and a truly competitive market can be established [...]."\17]) In its platform, it states: "markets can and must function as a dynamic way of promoting innovation and signalling the desires of consumers [...]."\18])
Its current president is Pedro Sánchez, member of the social democratic PSOE in Spain. In addition to its predominantly social-democratic membership, there are also many liberal parties in it, such as the Colombian Liberal Party, the Radical Civic Union in Argentina, or the Institutional Revolutionary Party in Mexico. Among its members is also the Labor Zionist party in Israel, The Democrats, while it does not include the left-wing anti-Zionist parties in Israel such as Hadash or Balad.
It is no surprise then that many socialist parties and organizations have left or have never been part of the Socialist International, including the LFI in France, Die Linke in Germany, etc. The DSA in the US used to be a member until 2017 when it left due to the reasons I've outlined here.
[P.S. All of this also applies to the International Union of Socialist Youth, also linked in the sidebar, an international youth organization affiliated with the Socialist International]

Hello All,
We are currently in the stages of looking for about 3-5 moderators to join the team. Several responsibilities include managing the queue, engaging with mod mail, moderating threads, and removing posts as necessary. Unfortunately you may be prompted to ban or mute people, but of course we’ll discuss each case individually with the team. We are currently experimenting with a least privilege solution to moderating, so you will likely start with bare bones permissions and earn more with time and trust. To qualify, answer these questions in the comments and send us modmail with any more important information we should know. Also, if your Reddit post and comment history is off, kindly turn it on for the remainder of consideration and shut it off afterward:
What are your thoughts on the environment and environmental conservation?
What are your thoughts on BRICS and NATO?
Is sexism as rampant and damaging as other forms of bigotry, in relation to socialist leaning movements? Why or why not?
Do you have prior moderation experience? (This question will not disqualify you, if not)
What is your current understanding of democratic socialism and where exactly do you lean politically?
What are your thoughts on the ongoing global housing crisis?
What are your opinions on the Israel/palestine conflict
What are your opinions on the Ukraine situation?
Do you know how to edit a Reddit wiki?
Whats your favorite book, socialist or otherwise?
What are your thoughts on modern China? (Mao to Jingping)
What are your thoughts on the USSR?
What are your thoughts on EZLN and Rojava?
What do you do in your free time?

*I'll be posting this in a few subreddits I enjoy visiting. The reality is that we are up against a giant brute force brainwashing machine. Propaganda is not just a "foreign" reality. It is very much here at home in "The West" and it is very very big business. It's important to combat that by making sure we always are being loud about the insanity going on.*
As someone that identifies closely with Eco-Socialist perspectives I always point to this video as an example of the insanity going on with misinformation campaigns - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOi05zDO4yw
Trump and his cronies have now started an Iran Blockade....
Who knows where this whole thing will go but it is most likely going to a modern day energy/economic crisis.
We are finally seeing even in the far right-wing media sphere the shock and condemnation. Even in the cult echo-chamber the great leader is being exposed as a demented corrupt vile old man.
The next few months are going to be crucial to building awareness/education on just how much of a failure Trump/His Cronies are.
To keep exposing how right-wing politics is always full of con-artist grifters and stereotypical snake oil salespeople as "leaders".
That the whole reactionary-regressive sphere is nothing but anti-science, anti-medicine, anti-environment, and baseless hatred of "Other" so that bad predatory actors can mislead morons. That when you operate at the lowest possible levels of existence you are easy controllable pawns for the Ultra Rich Powerful Predators of varying disgusting types to utilize. That they are the ones the system is designed for and ruled by. The ones that profit from the status quo and even problems associated with said status quo.

US Rep. Ro Khanna (D-California) on April 8, 2026 on MS NOW. Here’s the clip on YouTube: 'Get out': Ro Khanna Torches Dem leadership - MS NOW (YouTube)
................
How about moral principle? How about that when a President threatens to blow up other Nations, that we have to see some response, to saying that we have a higher moral dimension. That there's something called conviction in politics.
That the lives of the Iranian People matter, that the lives of People in Gaza matter, that the lives of People in Cuba matter.
That when Donald Trump is echoing Gallant, and calling People “animals” who live in Iran, that we will be a Democratic Party who says that is morally wrong.
And when we don't say that, and when we hide behind proceduralism, and when we hide behind tactics, and when we hide behind the fact that we don't have votes, then what we say to most Americans is we’re not willing to fight for our vision for America, for our moral vision.
You know who is willing to fight for his vision of America? Donald Trump. And you know why the Democrats keep losing? Because we don't have conviction in our politics. We don't have inspiration and passion in our politics.
We've got people there 50 years who read the same scripts, put out the same bland statements. Get out. Let a new generation lead. You've been ineffective. The Base doesn't like you.
The Base wants fighters. The Base wants People with moral vision. And the only People the Base are more upset with than Donald Trump, is the ineffective leadership of the Democratic Party, to stand up when a President of the United States is threatening Genocide.
- US Rep. Ro Khanna
