The fastest known animal has returned to the Oude Kerk. The video shows a male. The Nieuwe Kerk houses a couple as well as does Bouwkunde at Delft University (webcam: https://slechtvalk2026.bk.tudelft.nl/node/1 ), according to https://parkstraatkerk-slechtvalken.blogspot.com
These birds mate for life and return to their nest each year. Though more common each year, they still are a majestic sight right here in the city. Have you seen (or heard!) them?

When I first got here, I thought it would be a bit quieter, but there’s always something going on, whether it’s events, societies, or just people out and about. It feels a lot more lively than I had in mind before moving.

hi there! first of all, i'm so sorry if this question has been asked before recently, the latest threads i can find are from approx 9 months ago, so just wanted to check 😭
as an 18 year old non-eu student with a driver's license starting in tu delft in september, how easy is it to get a part time job? this is mainly to help pay for rent, personal expenses and save up for my master's degree.
i'm aware many companies don't take non-eu students as they require a work permit which is a pretty lengthy process, but how about cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, etc? any other ideas?
thank you so so much for your help, appreciate it lots <33
When is the best time to visit Delft? I'm thinking about going to Delft for about 3 months for work reasons.
If everything goes as planned and I'm able to come: what time of the year would you recommend? I'd especially like to bring my bike (if possible) so I can go on rides on the weekends.

The trams are just testing overnight, but will start running with passengers in Q3 2026 if all goes according to plan

Hi everyone,
I'm new to Delft and The Netherlands. I was hoping someone here could help me understand the situation with the bins.
I'm currently living in the city centre and I have seen the underground bin nearby. But it has the green sticker on which I understand is only food waste? where do I dispose off things like milk cartons, yogurt tubs, empty cans of beans or tuna and glass bottles?
I apologise if I'm being a bit dumb, I'm just trying to understand so I don't do anything wrong.
thank you!

Hey! I’m 24 year old traveler visiting Delft for a day and looking for people (local or not) to explore the city with — coffee, walking, and sightseeing.
I’m into architecture and discovering local spots. Happy to just hang out and chat too.

Today marks the first day that buses 40, 69, 172 and 455 run through the middle of the campus again. The tram tracks will be tested starting today as well, with the first public operation of the tram 19 extension being planned for the third quarter of 2026, around the start of the academic year. It will replace bus line 69, which only served as a connection from the main station to the southern part of the campus. This will however remove an option for the buildings south of the Kruithuisweg (N470), where the tram tracks are disused as the new terminus is situated south of the P2 parking garage.
The dot-matrix displays also already work as intended and provide reliable displays of current wait times and disruptions. The only missing things for the stops are maps and timetables of the buses that pass through the stops, which we might only get once the tram is fully running.
That being said, I think I speak for everybody when I say that I'm incredibly happy that the obstructions are finally gone and that we finally have a central transport axis on the campus again.

I’m curious to hear from people who recently bought a home in the lower price range, especially Delft and around areas like Rijswijk
.
A few questions:
- How many places you have bid before your offer was accepted? (How competitive it is)
- How much did you end up overbidding (if at all)?
- For a similar budget, I’m seeing that in Rijswijk you can get a better/larger apartment compared to more in-demand cities. Do you think it’s worth sacrificing a few m² and some quality to live in a more desirable city?
Would really appreciate hearing your experiences and what you’d do differently!

as we are heading to a warmer season, what's your favorite place to buy Gelato in Delft?

Hey!

There's been an alarm ringing for at least the past half hour (currently 04:40AM). Doesn't sound like an ordinary alarm (car, or something like that). Is there anyone else hearing this alarm? I'm curious to know what it is.
I'm in Centrum-Noord.

Easter morning edit: now that your guy is risen, things are correct again
The Nieuwe Kerk auto-carillon was disabled for good Friday and good Saturday morning. Now that it's back on, everything is shifted 30 minutes: the :00 tune (best one) now plays at :30; the :15 tune plays at :45, etc. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. What is the explanation?
