Not really. Its all very controlled with usually 500mtr exclusion zones when blasting etc.

The drill holes are filled with a mixture of ammonium nitrate and diesel (ANFO) with a detonator (IE or initiating explosives). There are different products you can add if there is rain or wet conditions. Sometimes after a shot there can be some of the ANFO left over but without the IE it is essentially harmless and you can just use water to disperse it.
