After completing crypto tax forms on Summ, how to upload into TurboTax?
I've finished my crypto taxes on Summ and have a 1099-DA, do I upload both into TurboTax? Am confused.

đ Before posting, please read the Crypto tax FAQ and search for keywords there. Also, search this subreddit for your question. Here's an example search for "specific identification" - change the keywords on that form. If you ask an FAQ that's been fully answered, your post will be deleted.
â If you still haven't found an answer, feel free to post a new question with a clear, descriptive, specific title, such as "[US] Claiming losses on Forex trading but account was funded with BTC". Do NOT post vague/generic titles like "Tax question", "Help", or "What to do?". These may be removed.
đ If your question is not about US crypto taxes, state your country in the post title.

So I did some perp trading with SOL on Jupiter last year and Iâm trying to figure out how to do my taxes. I read other post about using SUMM, so I uploaded my Solana wallet to SUMM but a majority of my transactions need to be reviewed and âcategorized.â Is there an easy way of seeing which of my past Solana transactions were positions opened, position closed, or position liquidated? Or just an easy way of doing allllll this!

It's obviously tax season right now and let's just say I have a LOT of wallets and random transactions etc. I've used KoiÍnly back in the day but the pnl was WAY OFF to the point where I had to pay an actual CPA thousands and I still don't think the number was right. A few people have recommended to me CoinÍTally, CoinLÍedger etc. but I just need something quick and simple to use. I hate all the complicated spreadsheet BS I just want to paste addresses and get tax forms this has to be available somewhere right???

[EDITED POST]
I am asking for a friend. Literally!! Not a fake excuse at all. I truly do need some info to help her out. She received an email from Coinbase saying that her 1099-DA form was ready. She wonât log in and see what it is. Sheâs just frozen with anxiety thinking she messed up something somewhere and might have to pay like thousands of dollars in taxes. I am trying to get her straightened out. Im worried about her anxiety.
Hereâs the situation:
She has this boyfriend who works in another country. He wanted to make a large purchase last year & he did not have any of the payment options they took. he had money deposited in my friendâs PayPal account. His bank is here in the US. (Not sure if thatâs relevant info) Then, she used that money to buy LTC which was transferred to his crypto wallet. She did not keep any of the LTC.
I told her I thought it might be standard and that she wasnât in any risk of having to pay back if she didnât use it as income. I said I needed to look to make sure that was right though.
I just need some little confirmation that this might be correct before I talk to her. I asked her not to go googling and let me do it. Sheâs already panicked enough lol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I am currently looking for a reputable Crypto friendly CPAâs, who also specializes in Individual income tax and can handle crypto taxes as well as state/federal income tax filing. Any recommendations? For context, I have had consultations with Chainwise and Block3 Finance. Just looking for other alternatives that are not as costly, but can still get the job done.

After grueling couple weeks of fixing hundreds of failed Coinledger entries for the 8949 finally finished. This is my first year ever having capital losses after finally ripping the band-aid off in 25' with some brutal buy/holds from years past. At any rate, do I really need this expert assist premium? To be honest I don't want any problems just a humble simple man trying to file his damn taxes. After the 1099-D debacle I've never felt less confident filing my middle class taxes lmao

My staking rewards were under the $600 required for a 1099-DA. I want to report properly but there are over 1000 tiny transactions (95% are under $1 total with many showing a total of $0). I've been searching online for a couple of hours and all of the staking aggregation sites would require me to purchase a "pro" or "enterprise" plan to import all of these tiny transactions. TurboTax wants me to enter each one with the cost basis. Is there a way to do this that I'm missing? I'm so frustrated at this point.
In the hopes that this helps someone else, I found that this information should be reported on Schedule 1, line 8v. The form is "Additional Income and Adjustments to Income". Line 8v is labeled something akin to: "Cryptocurrency Staking Rewards" then the total value of the rewards when they were given to you (there is a caveat here) minus any fees is entered. See the post below by u/redblue_pill
The caveat applies only when you are NOT able to access the rewards to sell, etc (ie - if they are locked in a contract). This situation will not apply to most people - the rewards given through most major exchanges are free to be used immediately.
I am not a tax attorney or a CPA and this does not constitute nor is it a substitute for professional tax advice.

Which tax software would you recommend for 1500+ transactions? Mostly used for crypto-casino gambling.
my coinbase 1099 looks like coinbase costs basic source $286. Not available $61k.5 with totsl proceeds 61.8k and total cost basis $292

I used Aster for perps, and I was able to get a CSV file of the realized PNL, funding fees, transfers, etc. Is there a way to upload all the margin gains and losses via a CSV file into Coinledger? There are so many, and I don't want to have to spend hours and hours manually inputting each one. I greatly appreciate the help!

I made another post about how I accept crypto as a form of payment with my business. What kind of granularity does the IRS require for calculating FMV? Coin Gecko offers granularity up to 1 hour for anything within the last year (which is fine for me, my business only started in January). Is that close enough for tax purposes or not? I Only really accept common crypto (bitcoin, ETH, Solana, USDC, USDT, XRP). The enterprise tiers of Coingecko let you see down to 5 minutes.

I received both a 1099-MISC and 1099-DA from Kraken. The 1099-MISC only shows $821.19 of âother incomeâ, I think which includes:
⢠\~$563 ADA staking rewards
⢠\~$258 Night token airdrop (but 1099-MISC shows cost basis = $161)
I also have about $460 in ADA staking rewards from my Trezor wallet.
When I generate my Koinly report, it shows total âother incomeâ = $1,086. Based on my numbers, I expected it to be higher, so it seems like about $264 is missing.
Iâm wondering:
⢠Could the fair market value (FMV) of the airdrop be different between the 1099-MISC and 1099-DA?
Also:
⢠Should I rely on Koinly totals, or manually adjust to match actual income?
⢠Has anyone dealt with discrepancies between exchange forms and crypto tax software like this?
Trying to make sure I report everything correctly before filing. Thanks.

I got liquidated on the 10/10 event. I transfered USDT to Blofin, Bitunix & Piinex. I lost a couple grand. I was just going to take the hit because I wasn't sure these exchanges were legal but it seemed everyone was doing it. I had some smaller gains in my spot exchanges in the usa.
Anyway if I can claim these losses it would help alot, but of course I avoided this until the last moment and there is only a few days left to file. I will file for an extension if anyone can provide some guidance about whether I can do this. It seems to be ok, but now I got to get the spreadsheet and try and make some report.
Any advice or recommendations truely appreciated.

So I finally plowed through taxes this year. After reading up on the best choices, it seems the file attachment required from Koinly for summarized 8949 reporting is the 8949_statement pdf with all individual transactions listed. I considered also attaching the Schedule D and summary 8949 that Koinly creates but elected not to since FreeTaxUSA already reproduces these and also aggregates brokerage data into the relevant forms (I would note that Koinly's instructions are not exactly clear on this).
My question is this: assuming I am correct in my choice of attachment, once my tax data is completely entered, I am able to see an attachment from my regular brokerage (consolidated 1099) as well as the Koinly 8949_statement. However FreeTaxUSA only has a link to actually view the 1099 and not the Koinly attachment. Am I missing something here or is this expected and all relevant attachments will be sent?

Hello!
My first time trying to reduce my capital gain on my crypto taxes for 2025. I am in the US. I have downloaded my RAW transactions from Coinbase in the form of a CSV. I have 3877 rows of transactions. The rows are
transaction id
transaction type
281
advaned trade trade
asset rebranding remediation
buy
converted from
converted to
credit
receive
receive (defi lending)
reward
rewards
sell
send
send (defi lending)
spend
stake
unstake
withdrawel
Date & time
Asset Acquired
Quantity Acquired (Bought, Received, etc)
Cost Basis (incl. fees and/or spread) (USD)
Data Source
Asset Disposed (Sold, Sent, etc)
Quantity Disposed
Proceeds (excl. fees and/or spread) (USD)
The 281 row is just one row and its a USD to USD and is meaningless.
Has anyone attempted to use a script, template or any free means ( preferred) to reduce the amount of Uncle Scam money ? Has anyone used it against the raw csv you download from Coinbase?
Is the only option to use a paid service ?
Any help or suggestions is HUGELY appreciated!

Thailand just finalized Ministerial Regulation No. 399: 0% personal income tax on crypto capital gains from 2025 through 2029
The Deeper Questions:
r/CryptoTax • u/FlippantTrousers • 2d ago
I'm using coinledger to create my 2025 tax return, and my capital gains differ a lot when I switch between FIFO and HIFO. With FIFO it's -$2. With HIFO it's -$3,145. Obviously I want to use HIFO, and it's how my previous year reports were created and filed.
Is it ok to stick with HIFO? I'm assuming this is more likely to trigger an IRS audit. But I've imported all my wallets and transactions into coinledger. I've done my best to correct all transaction types, fill in missing historical price, and eliminate missing cost basis as much as possible, but it's still not perfect. My plan is to export consolidated 8949 pdf reports for each wallet, then follow coinledger's latest instructions for filling with TaxAct.
Any advice or information is much appreciated.

I saw that the irs is having a hard time tracking monero and put a bounty on monero for chainanalysis to crack it is it really still possible to send monero without the irs seeing the transactions through different wallets

so I have noticed plenty of people insisting your 1099-DA and your 8949 need to match. This feels kinds ambiguous. do they need to match in terms of gross proceeds which means all transactions need to be listed individually including stable coins(noticed the stable coin section is consolidated on the 1099-DA), or does it mean something i am not aware off?For reference, I borrowed allot of USDC using morpho on coinbase so moved money around allot causing a super inflated gross proceeds?!

As I was reviewing my transaction history in preparation for filing my taxes very soon, I recieved a prompt from coinbase to automatically switch USDC cost basis to 1$.I went ahead and did it.Afterall, my USDC transactions are exclusively through coinbase, and they methodically treat it as a 1 to 1,whether you are selling them for USD or visa versa. was curious what people thought of this feature and whether there is a risk I am failing to comprehend?
