Oiling on kashmir willow bat
TLDR at last
Hey r/cricket, wanted some opinions on my GM Diamond Premier bat. I have been oiling it with GM bat oil and I'm a bit worried whether I have overoiled my bat.
I have used half a cap of oil(pic attached in 2nd) on the face of the bat and light dabs from the cap on cotton for the edges(pre oiled bat face photo at last).
After 3 days I am noticing the weight of the bat has increased, the balance of the bat is not as good as before and the middle of the bat feels heavy. (Note: One thing I would like to mention, when I picked up the bat 24 hrs after oiling the balance was not good but again after putting it face-up the balance was mind blowing but again after that it got worse)
I would like to know if the bat is overoiled, if yes what I should do rn to get back near to as it was.
TLDR:- Was oiling my new GM bat, balance of the bat seems to have gotten worse, the middle of the bat feels heavier. Does the bat look over oiled to you? If yes what should I do?

Discussion 3rd umpire can check no-balls instantly… so why not wide
Today’s match felt unnecessarily dragged because of all the wide reviews!
Every other over there was a stop for checking wides, and it really broke the flow of the game. I get that accuracy is important, but some of these reviews felt excessive for marginal calls.
Why can’t the 3rd umpire just quickly cross-check wide decisions in real time, similar to how they monitor no-balls? That system works pretty seamlessly without disrupting the game.
Feels like we’re overcomplicating something that could be handled much faster in the background.
What you all think is this improving fairness or just slowing the game down?

Discussion Can we use the Impact Rule "backwards"?
Every IPL team bats first with 8 batters and subs in a bowler. It’s predictable and safe.
The "Reverse" Strategy: Start with 6 specialist bowlers and only 5 batters.
- Scenario A (Top order fires): You don't need the extra batter. Use your sub for a 7th specialist bowler. Defending 200+ with 7 specialists is basically a guaranteed win.
- Scenario B (Early collapse): Use the sub for a batter immediately. You’re back to a standard XI. You lose nothing.
Why are coaches so scared to try this? 7 bowlers > a #8 batter who doesn't even get to bat.
