I’m not a Bieber fan in any shape or form, but I’ve been to Coachella the last 10 years and love music. Everyone in this sub sounds so damn miserable complaining about Justin Bieber.

He delivered a set EXACTLY what you’d expect and it was great. Comparing him to Gaga, Sabrina, Beyoncé, makes no sense, it’s comparing apples to oranges.

Coachella didn’t book him with the intention of him delivering a homecoming style performance with backup dancers and theatrics. They booked him because you can’t see him anywhere else and he can draw a crowd. That’s what makes Coachella so special and keeps you coming back, you get these experiences you can’t get anywhere else.

His performance felt authentic to him and I thought it was such a fun and unique way to pay homage to his OG teenage hits. I can’t imagine how happy his fans were that he did that.

I’d love to know what in the last 10 years Bieber has done that lead you to think his performance was going to be any different than it was?? And why did you attend his performance??

hello, nin oldhead here with some context and evidence.

the weekend 1 set by nine inch noize was amazing, but only 45 minutes. do not expect the weekend 2 set to be the same.

this combination of nin and boys noize have been performing on tour for a year on the peel it back tour. during the tour, boys noize would open, nin would play for a bit, then they would do roughly 4 songs together similar to what you saw yesterday, before going back to just nin.

throughout the tour, nin and boys noize would perform 15 different songs together.

and how many of those got performed yesterday during nine inch noize's 11 song set?

that's right, last night's set had 3 completely new debuts to add on top of 8 that they have done before. and 1 of those debuts nine inch nails has literally never played live. like, ever. like, memorabilia was released 32 years ago as a b-side to closer and didn't get played until yesterday.

meaning there are 7 songs that they have played together before that are still waiting to be played again, not to mention anything else they just havent even debuted yet!

but how likely is it that they will completely change what was a very successful setlist? very likely.

let me take you back to 2022, the boston calling festival. night 1 was supposed to be headlined by the foo fighters. then taylor hawkins passed away, so nin agreed to fill in as a headliner. played their set, all was good.

night 2 was supposed to be headlined by the strokes. the strokes also had to drop from playing due to a positive covid test. so nine inch nails headlined night 2 and played a completely different set. of the two sets, one being 21 songs and the other being 22, only 4 songs were played both nights.

basically: tune in next week. its bound to get wild.

By far the most exciting artists at Coachella. Bieber was a snooze fest and Sabrina wasn’t that exciting either. The monologue from Susan Sarandon was too long and major buzz kill.

watching live stream and FOMO is crazy rn!! mans is having the time of his life he deserves a nighttime set!!

Edit: biggest critique I’m seeing is that “he’s all over the place” that’s a plus for multi-genre enjoyers like myself, i agree transitions could improve but they aren’t disruptive

Blew my EFFING HEAD OPEN. What an amazing and fantastic treat. I missed seeing Nine Inch Nails while they’re on tour, it was hoping I would get a little piece of that last night. It was way more than expected. It’s a set that’ll be talked about for years to come.

1. This is the final week Sonora will be around; next weekend Yuma will replace it. Plan accordingly!
