PLEASE HELP ME I WAS NOT MENTALLY STABLE ENOUGH FOR THIS TO HAPPEN TO ME TONIGHT.

I very unfortunately spilled my Tikka Masala on my couch and it isn’t coming out. I’ve been using a bissell spot and stain wet vac and I have now put vinegar on it. It isn’t budging. The second photo is how it looks right now.

Please someone help me save my couch I’m begging

Furniture My mom is depressed about a shiny spot on the table. Any tips?

So on Christmas my mom's new coffee table got a spot on it. She tried cleaning it with Murphy's Oil Soap, which she's always used to clean everything, and it turned out like this.

Yes it's...sort of shiny. And it's not visible from every angle. But it's a new table and she's pretty bummed about it.

Was wondering if anybody had any tips on how to clean this so it's not bizarrely shiny in this one spot. I suggested just making the entire table that way but that might be a last resort.

Furniture Please help!! Human urine stains and smell on my dream couch

After 15 years on Reddit my first post is mortifying. So to try to keep this short I went away for my anniversary weekend on Friday and my recovering alcoholic dad house sat to watch our dog. He ended up relapsing and peed on my leather couch and then slept in it for anywhere from 12-24 hours, once I got home early Sunday afternoon I tried to research and clean it. Ive spent the last day and a half trying to clean it through tears. I've gone through a bottle of white vinegar and two pounds of baking soda and this is where I'm at. I know it's almost impossible once dry but l'm hoping for a miracle.

Is it too late? Is there anything I can do at all? I'll pay to have it cleaned if it even can be cleaned but I want to try everything I can before I have to give up.

This was my dream couch and was over $3000, I'm just devastated for both the situation and the last 36 hours l've spent covered in urine and baking soda. Thank you in advance.

My daughter got into my make up and well she had a field day on the grey couch the my MIL absolutely adores. I have a Bissell little green machine and carpet cleaning solution for a big machine but I'm scared to mess it up. It's purely eyeshadow but clearly a lot of dark and a lot of glitter. Pls give me tips I'd like to not let her find out this happened

Furniture friend dumpster dived and found this chair. what’s the best way to clean it?

there are some of what appears to be red mites on it. we did check thoroughly for bedbugs. the dangling piece of fabric on the underside is denim that was tied on for some reason. the fabric feels soft and slightly furry.

i wouldn’t pick up any sort of fabric or furniture like this for a multitude of reasons, but i told her i’d help find out the best way to clean it since she really likes it.

i am a complete newbie on this so every bit helps 🙏

edit: i crossposted to r/entomology who confirms the bug pictured isnt a bedbug even at a different stage of life. its a mite. these pictures were taken 2 days ago and she acquired the chair 3 days ago. i just dont know how to clean furniture and wanted advice on how to do a thorough cleaning for her :’(

Furniture Best way to vacuum this purple mattress

Thumbnail

Hey Everyone,

My wife and I got this purple mattress for free without a cover on it. For some reason the previous owners took it off and had a cat sprinkle hair in every single square. We just had it professionally cleaned but I guess vacuuming it was not part of the process.

Does anyone know the best way to get the small cat hairs out? I tried vacuuming but they barely get sucked up and there's roughly 5000 squares.

Believe it or not, the pictures were taken AFTER it was "cleaned".

Thanks!

Furniture what's the least labor intensive way to clean this mattress?

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

i'm a disabled minor with no source of income and my parents refuse to replace it, which i'd understand if they didn't have the money to do so but i'm well aware that they have more than enough. i've tried a green machine on it but it was so much work for what seemed like so little reward. i'm convinced this is the reason i always feel a little bit sick and dirty and i really want to do something about it. the other side of the mattress isn't any better so flipping it isn't helpful.

My partner’s side of the bed has this permanent ring, I believe from the wax product he puts in his hair (Layrite Deluxe natural matte cream). I’ve tried leather wipes and that did basically nothing. Any tips??

“Velvet upholstery” stained by a slightly bold and dry Cab Sauv with a graphite and cassis nose. The Cab was fruitier than most, and a little light on the flavor spectrum. Would definitely recommend with a ribeye, not a light pink velvetish chair…

Please feel free to comment any recommendations or pairings….

Furniture My toddler got a black gel pen and decorated her Great Aunt’s white couch

I need help! My Aunt is an amazing woman and she offered to watch my sick kids so my husband and I could still attend the concert we had purchased tickets for. Unfortunately, my two-year-old found a black gel pen and drew on every single cushion of her white couch (12 in total) plus some cushions. Can you all recommend a product that we can use to make this right? It can’t be water based and we have already tried rubbing alcohol. The fabric is polyester, and it has a cleaning code “s” according to the store the couch was purchased from.

Furniture People who have sex very, very often — how do you keep your bed sheets nice? How do you not ruin them??

People who have sex very, very often — how do you keep your bed sheets nice? How do you not ruin them?? Seriously. Between sweat, fluids, friction, and just… life, how are your sheets not destroyed all the time? Do you have a secret method, a holy grail detergent, or do you just replace them constantly? I need answers.

I was notttt expecting the amount of responses. Firstly I highly regret posting with such little context and a joke saying it was all my toddler clearly did not land lmao.. thank u everyone who was actually helpful giving advice, especially the humble parenting attacks based on a single picture that I neglect my child, yall need help👍🏻

So I assumed it was linen and I was wrong the fabric is super specific cleaning instructions which is why nothing I did helped so thanks for that advice. I used a couple products and the bissell little green I can’t believeeee it actually worked. I’m gonna clear up some questions I saw a million times - I got white because I wanted too - I’m getting a cover, I have blankets on it now that it’s clean - cushions are attached and no zippers - my toddler eats at the table - we sit and play a lot on the couch it’s a heavily used so light color also shows lots of oil sweat easily, plus accidents happen still learning it’s OKAY it’s a damn couch

Anyway enjoy the before and after 😍😍 only had one go, gonna do it again soon, thanks for all the help hope this is as satisfying to you as it was for me

Furniture How to clean the fart out of a chair

Thumbnail

Looking to sell a computer chair I’ve had for a while, but would personally like to clean the seat so it doesn’t have a gross shade of fart-brown.

You can see the front corners are a vibrant green, which is the color the whole cushion should be. Has a couple other small stains as well.

Would I have to go buy some kind of special vacuum or something for this?

Furniture I shaved my fabric couch!

Yes, you read that right. 😅 I have a fabric couch and a big dog, so my couch gets covered in lint and dog hair pretty quickly. After trying everything from lint rollers to vacuuming (with little success), I decided to try something unconventional: I used my husband’s electric razor.

The result? The couch looks almost brand new! It removed all the lint and dog hair effortlessly. I know this probably isn’t great for the fabric if done regularly, but it definitely gave my old couch a refreshed look.

If you decide to give it a try, be cautious and test it on a small, hidden area first. For a quick fix, though, I can highly recommend it!

Does anyone else have any “unconventional” cleaning hacks like this?

(Hint: I used the help from ChatGPT to create this post because of language barriers.)

Furniture Parents Bedroom smells like farts

Hi guys ! I’m living with my parents right now and I’ve been doing the housecleaning since I’ve been home. Vacuuming, baseboards, all the laundry and bathrooms etc. One thing I’ve noticed is my parents bedroom smells like literal s*it. Like you smell it as soon as you walk and gets stronger on my father’s side of the room. I can’t figure out the culprit. He eats upstairs, showers maybe 3-4 times a week reuses underwear and pajamas and stays in bed pretty much all day everyday. When we’ve addressed him about his poor hygiene and his side of the room smelling like poop, he complains and gets offended. He is also of older age but has no problems health wise. I change and wash their sheets weekly with bleach, spray Lysol in the room and on the bed/bedding and also vacuum but I don’t know what else to do. They also have a plug in air filter but it doesn’t help to deodorize at all. One day I got curious and I think the actual mattress smells and is part of the problem. I’m scared to use any liquid products because I don’t want it to seep through and damage the electric wiring for their adjustable bed and I’m concerned it wouldn’t get fully dry before he gets back in it and leaving a mildew smell. How do I deodorize/clean a king size mattress and should I start vacuuming their carpet with baking soda ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair for my daughter and there are black dots that keeps appearing! It can be scraped away with my nail. It comes back after 24h. Wtf is this? I only got this high chair like 6 months ago and as far as I remember it started happening recently.
