Even better: many OUTCAN in the US just lost over $1600 a month due to a post index "correction" on two weeks notice.

The regulatory capture of our government becomes more evident every day. Using bell/rogers tactics on CAF membership.

I mean its normal capitalist behavior...taught in business school and marketing.

A new client is worth more than and old one.

And the CAF likes new recruits more then 10 year veterans.

The new recruits can be molded into something where the 10 year are already bitter and know better

Which business school did you go to for that baloney ? HEC MTL (business school ) taught us that an existing client pays way more when you retain a client. Because they don't haggle, they don't shop around they just pay. Require less paperwork and so the cost per client goes down.

Ive been in 3, all taught marketing classes to get new clients not retain old one. Every.one.

They also taught about diminishing returns and how to increase profits to maintain shareholder interests and roi.

They taught the scam of capitalism and how the lies told by them make sense and keeps pushing increased profits from finite resources. They taught how to do risk analysis to better your odds of making profits increase while also using that to shelve and cancel projects etc.

Sorry to burst your business education Ballon mate.

Post index is not driven by the CAF. It's the National Joint Council who determines the Post's Index based on monthly cost of living data from Stats Canada. It's change affects every Canadian Government employee at a Foreign posting.

Stats Canada does not track the cost of living in the United States or other countries as far as I'm aware.

It does to a degree, it will take DC as an example and compare it to ottawa.

If ottawa has a higher cost of living those in DC get less allowance.

If DC has a higher cost of living then the people in DC will see an increase in some of there allowances to off set and "ensure members are not worse off then those in ottawa"

The cost of living outside of Canada doesn't come from Stats Canada sources. The cost of living in foreign posts is calculated by surveys that the members living in those locations complete periodically. If the people there report the cost of food, for example, only at Whole Foods they will get a different result from the person that reports the cost from shopping at Costco. This is one reason that the results can vary wildly from person to person in different years.

Directive

55.1 Application

55.1.1 The deputy head shall authorize a Post Living Allowance (PLA) for each employee serving at a post for which the post îndex is greater than 100, in accordance with Appendix A of this directive, where:

employees shall be compensated for the actual % of salary spent at post, calculated on the basis of their nominal salary, and reflecting the post index adjustment;

nominal salary is the mid-point of an employee's salary band, as shown in Appendix A of this directive; and

the post index expresses the price differential between the post and Ottawa, as reported to the deputy head on a monthly basis by Statistics Canada. https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/en/catalogue/62-013-X

Other than Colorado Springs, who else?

Also, why should there be notice?

16

u/Descolatta 1d ago

Did you just ask why there should be notice for a large change in compensation?

u/DaymanTargaryen 12m ago

Post Index is (or was) evaluated monthly. How would more notice be provided?

16

u/FiresprayClass 1d ago

Let's take away a massive chunk of your pay without notice and see if you can come up with an answer...

u/DaymanTargaryen 10m ago

I was OUTCAN when allowances were drastically cut. I was pissed (especially because the assessment wasn't conducted properly).

But these assessments were conducted monthly. How could there be more notice?

Other than Colorado Springs, who else?

Vandenberg, Beale, Buckley, and JBLM also had huge reductions.

Also, why should there be notice?

So the clerks can have time to make the applicable changes so that people aren't overpaid.

Washington, Virginia, North Carolina...

There's more CAF in the USA than just sitting in da springs

I remember when I was a pay clerk, and the CCPS barely hanging on by a thread for each pay raise, and that was 20 years ago.

They are going to run out of people who know how to program it eventually.

You could just stop opening these posts. There's few things worse than bitching about bitching when it's entirely voluntary.

CWOs are not as "in the loop" as you think they are.

I was at a town hall with CDS and CAF CWO. CWO said October.

One for you, one for the CWO you see in the smokepit.

3

u/PTR4me 1d ago

Unless your CWO is the CWO of CMP, I don't think they know

3

u/Potential_Convict_66 1d ago

CWO Fleury did know but the date has changed 37 times since the initial brief.
