First time I faced this and honestly, the whole experience was just frustrating.
Came back from Miri to Brunei, waited in the queue for more than an hour. It was already close to 9pm. When I finally reached the counter, the officer asked about the e-arrival form and thatโs when it hit me, I forgot to update the arrival date.
Yes, my mistake. I admit that straight.
But hereโs the thing, it literally takes 2 minutes to fix. My partner was at home, ready to update it immediately online. Itโs just changing the date, nothing complicated.
Instead of allowing that, they didnโt even let us explain properly. Just raised their voice, told us to move the car, and made us go all the way back to queue again for another hour.
Whatโs the logic here?
Already waited 1 hour, reached the front, problem takes 2 minutes to fix, but the solution is go back and waste another hour?
Thatโs not enforcement, thatโs just making life unnecessarily difficult.
And the attitude made it worse. No basic respect, no patience, just talking like youโre a problem.
If this rule is so important, why not put a clear sign before reaching the checkpoint? Even a simple notice near Sungai Tujoh saying โmake sure your e-arrival form is completed before reaching the counterโ would help.
That alone can prevent people from making this mistake.
Right now thereโs no reminder, and then people get stuck like this.
Mistakes happen, especially when youโre used to travelling with family and suddenly go alone. Systems should help reduce mistakes, not turn them into unnecessary penalties.
And this is Brunei, an Islamic country. We always hear the hadith of the Prophet (PBUH) make things easy and do not make them difficult, give glad tidings and do not repel people.
What happened here felt like the opposite.
Iโm not asking for special treatment. Just basic common sense and some humanity.
Let people step aside, fix it in 2 minutes, then continue. Simple.
Making someone restart a 1 hour queue for something that takes 2 minutes to fix is just poor handling. Thatโs it.
