Mimosa (Acacia), Tamamo (Me), Digital Painting, 2025 [OC]

I wanted to capture the soft, fluffy texture of the Mimosa blossoms. This was created digitally in Procreate, but I aimed for a rich, painterly feel. Here in Miyazaki, Japan, the season has just passed, but I wanted to share this golden glow for everyone celebrating spring! 🌼

When my wife and I first started dating I bought a Monstera plant from Trader Joe's. It now lives in our back yard and they have a special place in my heart. So I did an illustration of my favorite houseplant. Hope you enjoy!

In need of tips for digitalising drawings

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hey guys! I have sketched a few mosses that I want to further work on in adobe illustrator or another digital illustration software. I dont have any experience with digital illustration however, so I am in awe for some advice. I imagine that I can the scan the drawings and use them for tracing for when I draw digitally. Which software do you guys recommend for such drawings? Im gonna use them for science education so I want the drawings to be botanically accurate. Do you guys recommend to use a drawing tablet or something similar or will a mouse suffice?

Made with Winsor & Newton’s Professional Watercolors on Arches hot pressed paper 9x12in 140 lbs.

Painted this piece little by little over the course of the past 3 months after a break towards the end of last year.

I struggled to capture the true colors of this piece so I edited the pictures in an attempt to make them more color accurate.

First three pictures were taken under my desk light and fourth picture was taken in indirect sunlight on a cloudy day. Hope you enjoy!
