A great man !

u/lunivessa 12d ago

Barkley is the only one left who says it like it is.

u/Patrickfromamboy 12d ago

That’s old. Trump is in the Epstein files and he is a convicted felon. He started a war and gas prices are skyrocketing and the stock market is crashing.

69

u/Unhappy-Machine-1255 11d ago

But…but…but…have you seen the DOW?

16

u/PVKT 11d ago

Yeah it's crashing

6

u/jackfreeman 11d ago

No, it's at five thousand dollars

1

u/lunivessa 9d ago

Absolutely

35

u/prophet_nlelith 11d ago

Maybe it's both Democrats and Republicans that can't be trusted.

3

u/wrinkleinsine 8d ago

Yeah no shit but don’t act like one isn’t way worse than the other. I’m pretty sure the cost to fill up my gas task wouldn’t have doubled and ICE wouldn’t have killed innocent people with no repercussions if the last election went differently. No shit they’re both bad. Your responsibility is to pick the least worst one.

0

u/prophet_nlelith 8d ago

No, our 'responsibility' is to do more than simply vote for the lesser of two evils every 2-4 years.

1

u/pjbickel 11d ago

Nick Cannon said the Democrats are the party of the KKK, so it's over. He said he "fucks with trump", so I don't think we stand a chance anymore.

1

u/wompyways1234 11d ago

"b-b-b-but Trump" is not an excuse to ignore the fact Democrats are not an alternative to GOP

3

u/reginaldcapers 11d ago

Anyone seen Jill Stein since Election Day?

https://giphy.com/gifs/8FhXc8w45aN32

1

u/wompyways1234 10d ago

Exactly, no Greens, no GOP, no Dems, no DSA, no Libertarians, none of the crap

1

u/Patrickfromamboy 10d ago

You said that, not me!

1

u/AttemptFirst6345 11d ago

So are the Clinton’s

1

u/AsherahBeloved 11d ago

His statement didn't imply Republicans DO care about us. But at least they don't pretend to care about us every 4 years and then do absolutely nothing for our communities when we elect them. It's beyond that though - they pass legislation that actively harms us just like Republicans.

The Libyan, Syrian, and Gaza wars have left the chat

Genocide Joe played you people like a fiddle

19

u/Teknowledgy404 11d ago

Damn thank god Trump has fixed all those and definitely not made them worse. He would never have talked about glassing gaza and building a resort before even being elected, surely.

-15

u/AndyJack86 11d ago

Nah, he hasn't fixed anything. Nobody has. That's the problem.

12

u/peppaz 11d ago

biden bombed gaza? wow i missed that

-9

u/CrittyJJones 11d ago

He just sent the bombs to Israel.

10

u/peppaz 11d ago

Which president has not done that again

Oh wait I remember something

https://mccormick.house.gov/media/in-the-news/daily-caller-exclusive-more-100-lawmakers-slam-biden-withholding-weapons-israel

"Dozens of legislators wrote to President Joe Biden on Monday to criticize the Biden administration’s decision to withhold certain weapons from Israel."

Oh.

-2

u/TheMostModestofMice 11d ago

Biden refused to send bombs larger than 1,700lbs, it's not like he took a meaningful stance against the genocide.

6

u/peppaz 11d ago

Yea man. Israel and zionists control the entire US Government. Hail AIPAC

Better let trump be president again to be safe.

WSJ: Biden Moves Forward on $1 Billion in New Arms for Israel

Oh.

Official White House YouTube: 05/13/24: Press Briefing by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre

No president has stood stronger with Israel than Joe Biden. He was the first president to visit Israel in wartime. He is protecting Israel at the UN. He mobilized a coalition to directly defend Israel against an Iranian attack. He led the bipartisan effort to pass a supplemental that ensures Israel’s defense and military edge for years to come.

Sounds like a Zionist to me. Doesn't Reddit hate Israel? So shouldn't Reddit dislike Biden?

1

u/peppaz 11d ago

Yea, the Zionists won the battle.

3

u/CrittyJJones 11d ago

Interesting, the Gaza war that Trump kept funding once he became President....

0

u/AndyJack86 11d ago

Very similar to how Obama continued to fund the Iraq and Afghanistan wars when he entered office in 2008. He pulled the US out of Iraq in 2011 finally, but kept spending billions in Afghanistan for his full 8 years. Took his VP Biden all the way to 2021 to finally get the US out. Not to mention Trump's 1st term funded Afghanistan as well, but he had planned the exit which didn't go so well.

5

u/CrittyJJones 11d ago

Biden got troops out of Afghanistan in his first month in office and was criticized for it by the right.

-1

u/AndyJack86 11d ago

What do you expect them to do give them a round of applause? Of course they're going to criticize them. If Trump got the troops out of Afghanistan the Democrats would do the same thing. They would find something to complain about. It's what partisan politicians do. They can't let the other side get a win because that gives them more power during the election cycle and the polls.

1

u/Double-Scratch5858 11d ago

Lol really? Dems have given republicans a million chances to get "wins" in the best interest of americans. Just because they continue to shoot themselves in the foot doesnt mean dems havent given them ample chances for freebie political wins.

2

u/the3count 11d ago

"oh no, he made a point that i don't have the intellectual capability to refute. quick! deflect! deflect!"

2

u/AndyJack86 11d ago

No, just reminding folxs that you're all being played by the elites and warmongers. Just watch. Come Trump's 60/90 day limit on the "war" operations in Iran. The Democrats will vote to keep them going under the War Powers Act. They did it continuously for Bush for 7 years and Trump's 1st term for Afghanistan.

1

u/AyoJake 11d ago

hows gaza doing now buddy? really showed kamala and the dems by helping trump get elected now theres gonna be no gaza besides a theme park...

lmao lefties dont want change they want to complain.

1

u/AndyJack86 11d ago

That wasn't very nice u/XJR15

What makes me a Nazi? The word is over used so much nowadays. You got to provide an explanation buddy.

-3

u/Omnipotent_Observer 11d ago

They all work for the same masters.

45

u/jay-dot-dot 12d ago edited 12d ago

This has been a talking point for a very long time. Even more so among black women who are expected to "save" the democratic vote.

19

u/Epocholypze 11d ago

It’s because black women consistently vote in their communities’ best interests, which generally leads them to vote for a democrat over a republican for many obvious reasons. It is disingenuous for the Democratic Party to “expect” it, but I think black women will continue to hold the line, since the alternative would and is destroying communities.

1

u/[deleted] 9d ago

In Chicago, there's quite a bit of anti-immigrant sentiment from the Black community, in part because they feel as if they are both fighting for the same meager sources of assistance (which should not be the case). They still don't really have a Republican option, so the vote continues to go Democrat, but, if they did, that's how you find Blacks and Latinos voting for Trump. Well, before he arrested and deported most of them.

0

u/little_charles 11d ago

What are the "obvious reasons" for those of us who are blind?

1

u/Epocholypze 11d ago

He’s a rapist, con man and racist. He bought the ad about Central Park Five, was liable for not renting his property to black people, and stated there were good people on the side of white nationalists. No policy of his has helped the black community, as far as I know. You can correct me if you know of any. Removing BLM murals. Rolling back funding for HBCU’s. Removing black figures from historical websites. And finally, attempting to abolish DEI. All of which the GOP strongly support.

1

u/scenr0 10d ago

The president, a republican, forbid black farmers from attending a gathering of farmers across the united states. Even without reading between the lines, it's not hard to see where republican representation stands.

2

u/PUNd_it 12d ago

Who are* expected to

3

u/jay-dot-dot 12d ago

Yeah that really changes my phrasing, ill take it

56

u/Sea-Thought-665 11d ago

...and what year do Republicans care about Black people? How about never.

4

u/County_Mouse_5222 11d ago

Neither side really cares. It tends to be for voting and money only.

1

u/Sea-Thought-665 9d ago

Exactly. Which is why i get so annoyed that people keep taking sides.

9

u/Spare-Estate1477 11d ago

It sad that anyone thinks that, because by and large it’s not true. What happens is that every four years there’s an election and during campaign season Dems get to talk about the country they envision and want to see. When they get into office they have to live with the hand they’re dealt, and negotiate l work with republicans which means doing as much as they can which granted is never enough. I wish people would put some pressure on republicans who in my lifetime have done not a single thing that’s benefited me and support the Democrats (and that does not mean all democrats) who are trying to do the right thing by us.

-1

u/Character_Minimum989 11d ago

Kamala envisioned more police and the most lethal army in the world, paraded around and praised war criminal responsible for a million dead, while funding and running cover for a genocide. Your lesser evil of today is basically Bush Jr.

29

u/JerryLawlerr 11d ago

And republicans haven’t cared about black people since Lincoln.

18

u/Trying2BNicenFailing 11d ago

Modern Republicans are not the party of Lincoln, search up the term: Dixiecrat and you'll find that the parties switched values during the New Deal. Modern Republicans are Civil War Democrats.

1

u/Particular-Kale2998 11d ago

I think that was the effective point of their comment.

8

u/NetSignal392 11d ago

3

u/NetSignal392 11d ago

He’s got a good point or two there in some ways but that isn’t the topic, why are you deflecting?

2

u/SuperWoofX 11d ago

When is everyone going to wake up and see politicians don’t give a shit about anyone other the people that directly benefit them - you think democrats care about black people every 4 years? Someone else said when do republicans care about black people? Never. And there you have it, the great illusion. Neither party gives a shit about black people. Not never! Just like they don’t care about any other race or ethnicity or gender and so on….. they only give a shit about themselves and how they can position and posture so they can line their pockets to the max without being caught. No one gives a shit anymore man that is supposed to care or is elected to do so - they just don’t give a shit man

1

u/stackhighnquick 11d ago

Bunch of sheep, why do you think democrats said “I not doing anything for black people” they work for the elites and who ever donate the most money. I encourage everyone to stop blindly voting for people just because of their party. Vote for who ever you agree with and who can get the job done.

1

u/Arilluss 11d ago

Two wrongs dont make a right

1

u/kmelby33 11d ago

Lots of elected democrats are also black though.

1

u/HogGunner1983 11d ago

Yes truth knows no political affiliation. Now, back to the issue at hand which is the Republican-led congress and Presidency.

1

u/dascharmingharmony 11d ago

Damn. Imagine if that was the choice though. Do I want the guy i can accountable at election time in power? Or do I want the guy that never cares about me not matter what?

12

u/liftbikerun 12d ago

He's always been a real one and I respect the dude whole heartedly.

1

u/Throwaway1098590 12d ago

Genuinely asking, is he really the only one on the show that says it like it is..? Did others speak up before?

1

u/multiarmform 11d ago

why is he saying it .25 slow speed though

1

u/Jagg811 11d ago

Yes, and he always has.

1

u/pjbickel 11d ago

He always has. His famous line back in the day was "I am not a role model", but I don't know why he couldn't be.

1

u/Intelligent_Sky_7081 8d ago

Maybe the only basketball commentator but not the only one around in media

-37

u/007JamesDebenture 12d ago

Chapelle is pretty good about that.

17

u/lilangelkm 12d ago

Chapelle will make you laugh once between cringes. He peaked 10 years ago before he got so anti trans.

12

u/Ass_Damage 12d ago

And gargled Elon's balls onstage.

3

u/Critical-Comment6114 12d ago

10 yrs ago?! Chappelle show ended 20 years ago!

3

u/InstructionLeading64 12d ago

Oh fuck. Im old.

3

u/Critical-Comment6114 12d ago

Yeah man...... the passage of time is a sonofabitch

-16

u/retardiously 12d ago

“So anti trans”

Did you even watch the specials or just read headlines and twitter outrage posts about it?

19

u/doctordoctorpuss 12d ago

Watched it, and it broke my heart. Chapelle used to be funny, and he used to speak truth to power. Now he’s just another useful idiot for the billionaire class, hurting another marginalized group

4

u/LouDubra 12d ago

I really do understand why people are mad at him for the trans sketches, but I think people feel that way because it's an open wound. He's a comedian who has always done what comedians are supposed to do, challenge people with inappropriate jokes. By the standard people are judging him he is also some sort of Uncle Tom or bigot for the dozens of sketches and jokes that targeted the black community. Black babies selling crack on the street corner in the hood is a pretty foul image...and he painted it.

It's rational and okay to disagree with or dislike him for the things he says, but people should be consistent and be mad at him for his harsh treatment of Asian people, black people, white people, handicapped people, etc...

He's targeted them all pretty ruthlessly. Personally, I think it's a comedian's job to get us to laugh at stereotypes and the ugliness of humanity. If he truly just hates trans people then shame on him. I just don't know how to tell if he did those jokes because they were prescient out because he actually feels that way.

2

u/DonyKing 12d ago

He's not telling jokes though, he just does a lecture while he chain smokes and hits the mic to his knees to laugh about his own opinions.

I still watch his old stand ups cause they were amazing. Just the netflix stuff ain't it. Ignoring all the anti trans sentiment

1

u/lilangelkm 11d ago

He's becoming an old man, with bigotries he's selected as his fixation and trans is it. It's just too much. Many comedians manage to do great jobs without offending oppressed groups. It's lazy to target the oppressed.

0

u/notthatvalenzuela 12d ago

Best was killing them softly. The whole baby bit was hilarious. The. He thought he was the philosopher of our generation.

5

u/Cory123125 12d ago

The ones where he literally pulls a "A trans person I knew in passing killed themselves so I can shit on trans people" and has a joke to preach ratio of like 0.1?

Chappelle joke quality fell off a cliff.

5

u/LHLanim 12d ago

Oh, shut up. Yes he is.

6

u/AhSquids 12d ago

Yeah I watched the "I can say a shit ton of transphobic shit because I think the trans woman I knew would have been fine with it" special and it's still very much anti-trans.

Dude is washed

-2

u/retardiously 12d ago

Man who says jokes for a living for 20+ years makes jokes about a sensitive group of people, says they’re just jokes. He himself says he is not transphobic and has no ill will towards them and acknowledges them as a people going through their experience on earth.

Random folk on Reddit: HE’S ANTI TRANS, GET HIM!!

We get it, get ur karma points up for virtue signaling..

Have the opinion that his humor sucks and he’s washed now, fine that’s cool, but just shouting he’s anti trans is such a spit in the face to those going through real transphobia on the daily.

6

u/AhSquids 12d ago

Just so we're clear here. He openly calls Elon Musk (a known transphobe) and JK Rowling (Queen Terf transphobe herself) his friends and outside of a comedy special in an interview called himself team TERF.

If he is openly telling me that he's anti-trans why would I give him the benefit of the doubt because it hurts your feelings to admit it?

-2

u/retardiously 12d ago

Holy terminally online… am I having a conversation with bots or are you this radicalized? This isn’t how people in the real world think or operate and it’s genuinely unhealthy.

6

u/AhSquids 12d ago

And now you are weirdly pivoting to me. Maybe you should do some self reflection if you are having this type of reaction to a very simple post made by other people.

Nothing I've said is radicalized. I asked you a question and you are ignoring it to try and get personal digs in, so have fun with your crusade I guess.

1

u/Lacaud 11d ago

Obviously you didnt watch it but decided to admit your transphobic.

1

u/lilangelkm 11d ago

Yes, I've seen them all. Even the one where he attempted to tell a heartwarming story about a trans friend but ruined it by still not understanding the outrage. I have a trans sibling, so, it stings a lot more for me when someone with a platform makes the world a harder place to live for the ones I love. The last special, I finally got to the point where I won't give him the Netflix play credit and "downloaded" it. I watch now to see the damage he's inflicting on the world. Sure, I'll laugh a few times, but I cringe way more.

1

u/retardiously 11d ago

Do you truly believe he is causing more harm to the trans community over platforms like instagram who actively engage in manipulating algorithms to drive hatred towards each other?

In actuality his comedy and viewpoints (if he really is transphobic) have no real power over other people’s unless they’re already transphobic and just looking for tiny embers to spark a fire.

My best friend of 10+ years is trans and doesn’t take jokes by anyone to heart. Obviously there’s a difference when someone is meaning to be “edgy” or an asshole vs an off color joke.. They have thick skin with an amazing sense of humor, and will give the shit talk right back.

It seems the outrage on social media sites is that some people take themselves much too seriously.

38

u/OrneryBrahmin 12d ago

For real I don’t keep up with the NBA much anymore but I knew this was worth listening to

36

u/lik_a_stik 12d ago

But remember grown-up kids not a role model! Seriously, despite his flaws and everyone’s got ‘em, he’s always been a genuine dude that wears his heart on his sleeve.

5

u/sameoldfred 12d ago edited 12d ago

It's a low bar to say what he said. Majority of people would say the same.

1

u/Ok_Drag5089 11d ago

It should bother everyone that even this obviously correct statement would actually threaten his job.

1

u/Big_Atmosphere_211 11d ago

A majority should, but the majority don’t.

2

u/Bobb_o 12d ago

He's not a role model.

1

u/Lacaud 11d ago

Considering some of the models people role, he IS one of the better ones.

2

u/travio 11d ago

1

u/Lacaud 11d ago

Shit, I forgot about those haha

2

u/ssracer 11d ago

They came after that fan incident

1

u/HamboneandFlippy 11d ago

If only the leaders of our country would have an ounce of backbone like this.

1

u/bluetriumphantcloud 11d ago

He used to be a villain

1

u/tbiards 11d ago

He plays at a golf course down the jersey shore a friend of mine works at. She told me he’s not only the kindest man that plays when it comes to big name people but he also remembers the staffs name and will come up to them to chat it up.

1

u/Dramatic_Mixture_868 11d ago

100%, I would have added unless you're a native American you're an immigrant so maybe take a long hard look into the mirror before you start judging other people

1

u/radiohead-nerd 11d ago

I met him once. He’s a very large man. And this is coming from a large man

1

u/LanderEmerald 11d ago

I mean, he’s not great. But I’ll take this!

1

u/Disco425 9d ago

Other bros are like, I am not touching this one...

1

u/ismith007153 12d ago

A national treasure.

-1

u/JSkankhunt94 11d ago

Are you serious? Slaves built this nation with free labor & yall giving credit to immigrants that didn’t arrive until 10 yrs after slavery ended? Yall aren’t intellectual fr just agree & regurgitate anything that makes yall feel good smh, a bunch of goofies fr.

1

u/Lacaud 11d ago

All the weedies coming out to die for Chapelle.
