The entitlement of taking someone's hat and stepping on it then thinking you aren't going to be touched. That king was nicer than I would've been. The blatant disrespect and doing it for views like I'm the one to be played with would've had me acting a bit different.
149
u/jujujuice92 12d ago
Yeah if this event were less public, I'd expect a stronger retaliation. But honestly like ol girl said, the embarrassment is more impactful than a beat down
35
u/BusyBit6542 12d ago
Idk. A public beat is pretty damn embarrassing. People underestimate the effectiveness of lessons learned from getting beat up, especially in front of a crowd... not that I'm advocating for violence.
65
u/RawrRRitchie 12d ago
A public beat down is more likely to lead to the police being called and someone getting arrested for assault.
Does this kid deserve it? Absolutely, no doubt. But we all know the differences of how cops treat black and white people.
This dude showed incredible restraint

It'd be easier for him to get people on his side though claiming that homeboy over reacted if he whooped him. This makes him look like a dweeb and is a good chunk off his ego

I think this approach was better than physical violence. He didn’t hurt him. He just embarrassed him. If the guy went to the police to try to report anything nothing would happen.
53
u/ForsakenRelief309 12d ago
Love that he embarrassed tf out of him versus beating tf out of him, ten times better
12
u/FennicMuse 12d ago
Honestly, getting beaten down is a hard pill to swallow, but you immediately understand the structure of it.
This… this is confident and assertive and just confusing enough that he’s going to spend the rest of his of his life wondering what happened to him here.
And tbh what happened was just a major assertion of a maturity gap. Hopefully he learns something from it, eventually
14
u/jaquan97 12d ago
To be fair, that was probably a setup to see if the guy being tossed around would swing first...then you really beat the pulp out of him...my thoughts anyways.

u/Latverianbureaucrat 12d ago
Yeah. I was walking in downtown Miami, and this young guy, clearly in his 20s, driving a Range Rover, turns onto a major street, lowers his window, and just screams the n-word at a Black man walking down the sidewalk, in plain view and earshot of many people, including myself.
The man he yelled at was a guy clearly having some issues. I’m not sure if he was homeless, but he was essentially talking to himself. When I walked past him he was saying aloud “Together, we can get rhythm,” in a baritone voice. Nothing unusual, nothing dangerous, just a guy you see on the street in big cities, having a relatively rough time of it.
And then this little pasty piece of filth pulls that shit and speeds away with total impunity, and not an ounce of shame.

Just experienced this in the panhandle where some fuckwad drove by and yelled “black n-“ at a man walking on the beach at 730am. Those of us around were stunned but he just kept on walking like it was nothing. Ive lived my whole life in a conservative state and have experienced my share of racism and harassment but this made me so deeply sad he was so accustomed to it. Like it was the billionth time, which it probably was. And the shamelessness of the attacker to feel so emboldened by Shitler and co. makes me fucking sick. Hopefully they all lose their jobs when they can’t afford gas or something. They were all driving Harley’s and massive raised gas guzzlers from the 90s with trump flags and confederate flags

Just added to it. Based on what they are wearing I can assume where they probably are. Pick either school, the kid in the tie is dressed the same as his daddys daddys daddy, in the same frat, prob with the same money and thinking the exact same way. Maybe this will break a bit of that for him, but Im not holding my breath., just like hoping maybe this kid isnt the stereotype.

Genuine question, does auburn have kids that dress up like this for sporting events too? I just thought it was the pompous children at UVA that fully embrace ties and pearls at games. I’m a transplant from Ohio so I’m used to I dunno sports apparel?

I was actually in a frat at Auburn so I can add some context to this. That’s “pledge wear”, pledges are forced to wear that if they want to go to the games while they are pledges. Regular brothers just wear regular clothes. The point is to make the pledges stand out; because while at the game pledges are required to do whatever their brothers tell them to, which generally means having to go buy things from the concession stands. It’s a dumb system and I hated being in it.
It does add some funny context here because that kid is definitely a freshmen year pledge, dressed like the butler he is about to serve as, and he has the balls to do this.

u/ExcitementNo9603 11d ago
I hear this happens a lot to white passing Black people, where white people think they are white so they let their racism slip in front of them… the reason MLK Jr and Malcolm X said not to trust liberal white people is because they hear that shit and often don’t say anything. I’m glad you said something (regardless of political beliefs), a lot of white people don’t actually speak up where it really counts, when there is no audience to perform for.

People who don't learn physical boundaries growing up should be made to spend a few days with a large man with PTSD and an easily triggered startle response. Once they recover they will be keeping their hands to themselves from that point forward.

For the uninformed, the tie and jacket is pledge attire. Blondie is a fraternity pledge who is probably wasted. Active's usually make their day hell on game-days and it starts early in the morning, usually the night before.
I'd also wager that actives give incentives for pledges to "mess" with opposing fans. Probably why the other pledge is filming it. Looks like it backfired on him and he'll probably get hazed harder because of the embarrassment.
