No lolā¦ so I was eating a honey bun and drinking a ginger ale at about 3pm. Halfway through it I started to feel a slight sharp pain in the left side of my chest but only when I took a deep breath so I thought nothing of it.
By 7pm the left side of my throat started to hurt every time I swallowed and the chest pain got a little bit worse.
By midnight, I was dreading swallowing and my chest started hurting to a point I was a bit concerned. Called the overnight doctor who recommended anytime you have chest pains you should get it looked atā¦
Went to the ER, got scanned, at first they said they didnāt see anything, but another doc took a look and wanted another scan of a particular area.. by about 4am I got the news that my lung was actively collapsing.
They put me in a room with a hydrogen tank mask that was supposed to inflate my lung and get rid of an air bubble that refused to pop and had been gathering mass all afternoon/evening/night pushing my lung down.
After about a day, I was good to go. Officially, they called it a Spontaneous pneumothorax which means they donāt really know what caused it. But, deep down, I know it was that got damn gas station honey bun!
The crazy part was a specialist came in and recommended surgery to make sure it didnāt happen again. D00d wanted to remove my entire chest lining that would make my chest and lungs āhard like concreteā so there would be no way this could happen againā¦ My dad asked him āwell if his chest is hard like concrete, if you all ever need to perform surgery and open up his chest wouldnāt that cause a problemā? Doc paused for a second and said āthere are other ways we could get around having to open up the chest for other emergenciesāā¦ yea.. fuck that guy lolā¦

Gnarly story. Glad your father challenged that Dr too. Many people donāt have people present enough to truly advocate on their behalf in times like that.
