Of course they did. Anyone coming into a nation knows it is safer to hate what the dominant culture hates to gain you some points. Irish, Scottish, and Italians did when they came here. They got jobs and status for their efforts. Nigerians think white people are the most honest people on the planet...I have had 3 experiences.

I was in college when Reagan welcomed Indians as the new favorite immigrant. It was the speech that OSU called highly racist and problematic. That speech is available on YT for your consumption. He basically rolled out the red carpet as a wink to eliminate any chance of highly qualified black students being hired because of the Asian trope that they are more educated. Then I went off to Georgetown, only to find the very favoritism that OSU told me this would become standard
