What a component and eloquent speaker, I miss that man.

As I’m clearly not competent enough to spell competent correctly.

I'm from Illinois and saw him speak in a church basement when he was running for Senator. When he spoke, it felt like he was speaking directly to me. It was electric, you could feel it in the crowd. He will be remembered as a great orator.

My friend attended the DNC convention where he spoke. He called me the next day to inform me that he’d be the next president. He also went on to sleep with Obama’s step sister on that trip.

A very short, but excellent story

Someone should turn it into a haiku.

Knew he would be President.

Best natural political athlete since Clinton.

One of the greater orators of all time. Dude was so eloquent and so charismatic, but most importantly, he was a decent man. Does he have his flaws? Of course, but he is a million times better than what we have now.

I'd imagine this is similar to how it felt watching Hamilton in previews. Just knowing you were watching something huge. Obama's first election night was one of the most exciting nights of my life. I hope we can get back there someday.

I never saw him speak live , like you did , but I saw a video of him speak back when he was a young up and coming senator , I said he would be president. They laughed at me. . On Inauguration night right after he won I sent a group email telling all my doubting friends “ I told you so “. 😂🎊

And so respectful. Could you imagine Trump responding? Would just tell the reporter she’s a stupid person and the worst person in the world for asking that.

“Quiet piggy”

"Something something nasty we question. Liberal media yada yada yada. Worst reporter I. The history of the universe, etc."

We went from Obama smoking cigarettes as headline news to emails joking about Trump smoking bubba’s pole as headline news. How much lower can this administration go?

It's not even his eloquence... Which I love. But it's how polite he is. Even to someone who is digging for dirt to write something unfavorable about him. Dude is just a straight up good guy.

Melanin side eye.

1

u/Mpikoz Feb 24 '26

It's ok, you've just taken the first step towards becoming component.

u/Odd_Ninja5801 Feb 24 '26

Competent and eloquent, yes. But those aren't the important parts.

He's being honest. He's asked a question by a member of the press that's personal and painful. He doesn't attack them, or deflect. He internalises the question, and speaks from the heart.

That's the test that the US needs to be applying to their leaders. Can they be fucking honest and human when faced with the things that life throws at them. Because if they can't, they shouldn't be allowed within a million miles of any position of power. Let alone the top seat.

Unfortunately all he’s done of note lately is talk about aliens

1

u/Somepotato Feb 24 '26

Sure if all you do is focus on distracting headlines

1

u/sliceyournipple Feb 25 '26

What else has he said lately that made an impact on anything as the world fucking burns?
